Unlocking Global Horizons: Summer Camp in Japan 2025
In 2025, the Global Learner’s Institute (GLI) is thrilled to host its transformative event: the "Summer Camp in Japan." Scheduled to take place from July 20 to 26 in the breathtaking Fuji-Hakone region, this seven-day program promises a unique blend of learning, cultural exchange, and self-discovery.
The essence of this program lies in providing a "super-glocal" experience, allowing participants to immerse themselves completely in an international educational atmosphere while remaining in Japan. Attendees will engage in conversations and exploration activities conducted in English alongside students from diverse backgrounds, enhancing their understanding of various cultures and fostering self-awareness.
Five Key Features of the Summer Camp
1.
An International Learning Environment in Japan
This program creates a learning space that brings international education to the domestic landscape, giving participants a taste of global perspectives without needing to leave the country.
2.
Collaboration with Multinational Peers
Students will collaborate with peers from different nationalities, creating a rich tapestry of interactions that broaden worldviews.
3.
Engagement with Interns from Prestigious Universities
Participants will have the opportunity to converse and collaborate with interns from renowned overseas universities, offering insights that enhance their educational journey.
4.
Rediscovering Japanese Culture
The camp encourages participants to engage with traditional Japanese cultural activities. Through practices like calligraphy, wadaiko (Japanese drums), and Hakone marquetry, attendees will deepen their understanding of their identities and gain confidence.
5.
Real-world Practice of Inquiry and English Skills
The program combines inquiry-based learning with language practice, allowing participants to apply their English skills in meaningful ways, facilitating a holistic educational experience.
Connecting with the World During Travel Restrictions
Given the current challenges regarding international travel due to fluctuating currency and rising global prices, GLI has crafted this program to fulfill the desire of many parents who wish for their children to gain global exposure. This initiative responds to the growing calls for accessible international education alternatives.
Engaging with Modern Themes
Set against the backdrop of the stunning Fuji-Hakone area, the camp will cover modern global themes such as sustainability and multicultural coexistence. Participants will engage in discussions in English, broadening their critical thinking about these essential issues.
As highlighted in recently nominated documentaries for the Academy Awards, the global appreciation of Japanese values is on the rise. This program offers participants a chance to reflect objectively on these unique virtues and develop the ability to voice their thoughts while respecting differences.
Pre-Camp Learning to Enhance Quality and Relationships
To foster a deeper learning environment, the Summer Camp will feature a series of five preparatory sessions. These sessions will allow participants to build trust among peers and deepen their understanding of the themes explored in the camp.
