Artivistas Showcases Martín Reyna's Unique Artistic Vision
Located in the vibrant heart of Paris, Artivistas is set to launch an exciting exhibition titled
A Campo Traviesa, running from
December 5, 2024, to
February 2, 2025. This exhibition is centered around the remarkable works of contemporary Argentinian artist
Martín Reyna. The opening event is scheduled for December 5th at
7:00 PM, attended by both the artist and exhibition curator
Raphaël Ocampo.
A Journey Through Abstract Landscapes
Martín Reyna’s artistic practice beautifully merges natural landscapes with expressive abstract art. Based between
Paris and
Buenos Aires, he draws inspiration from the interplay of light, irregular terrains, and the ever-changing elements of nature. Rather than simply replicating the landscapes he observes, Reyna seeks to transform these experiences into evocative paintings and drawings that capture the essence of his surroundings.
His creative process often occurs outdoors, where he immerses himself in the atmospheric conditions, harnessing the influences of intense sunlight, the sway of vegetation, and the movement of wind. As acclaimed art historian
Philippe Cyroulnik puts it, "Reyna's art signifies a departure from mere representation; it invokes and challenges the viewer's perception of painting itself."
Themes and Highlights of the Exhibition
The exhibition
A Campo Traviesa invites visitors on a sensory journey through abstraction. Reyna's work embodies a unique blend of vast imagination and real environmental elements, reminiscent of artists like
Tal Coat and
Howard Hodgkin. One of the exhibition's highlights includes a striking series of oil paintings which delve into profound themes:
- - Extreme sunlight issues
- - Exploring landscapes as a mirror of the human soul, drawing inspiration from Philipp Otto Runge
- - The symbolic relationship humans share with nature, illustrating the need to reconnect with ecological surroundings.
Additionally, visitors will be captivated by Reyna's drawings from his
travel notebook, which pay homage to Patagonia's vast, rugged landscapes. Here, the effects of weather and light inform his artistic expressions, leaving memorable impressions on his compositions.
