LGBT-Ally Project 2025 Breaks Participation Records with 54 Companies

The Start of LGBT-Ally Project 2025

The LGBT-Ally Project 2025 has officially kicked off, marking a significant milestone with a record-breaking 54 participating companies. Managed by Out Japan, a consultancy that specializes in LGBTQ+ training, consulting, and marketing, this initiative aims to foster allyship and inclusivity within the corporate world.

Understanding LGBT-Ally Project

Launched in 2017, the LGBT-Ally Project is a collaborative effort between Out Japan and various ally companies, centered around the motto "We are Here!! We are Ally!!" The project focuses on increasing the number of allies in the corporate environment and actively engages in initiatives surrounding various PRIDE events across the country. Participants not only showcase their commitment to LGBTQ+ issues but also engage in parades and online events to raise awareness.

During the previous year, a total of 53 companies took part, and this year’s increase to 54 has sparked excitement within the community, reflecting a growing support network for LGBTQ+ rights.

The dedicated website for the LGBT-Ally Project provides insights into the initiatives of participating companies, acting as a resource for those interested in allyship. You can view the latest updates and participating companies at Out Japan.

Opening Event Highlights

On May 9, the opening event for the LGBT-Ally Project 2025 was held at Ajinomoto Company’s conference room. Representatives from participating companies gathered for an exchange of ideas and to share their individual efforts towards supporting LGBTQ+ causes. This event laid the groundwork for future collaborations and set a hopeful tone for the year ahead.

For those interested, recorded sessions from this event will soon be available on Out Japan's YouTube channel, where approximately 30 participating companies will detail their past and upcoming initiatives related to LGBTQ+ support. You can catch the opening event on their channel here.

Workshops and Further Seminars

The LGBT-Ally Project will also be hosting workshops such as "Creating Systems and Internal Structures for LGBT Inclusion." This seminar targets companies considering starting LGBTQ+ initiatives or those that have begun but need guidance. It covers evaluation indicators for LGBTQ+ efforts, including details on the PRIDE index, providing specific examples of how to implement effective systems.

Additionally, participants will learn about the LGBT Understanding Promotion Law, which came into effect in June 2023, its implications for companies, and the actions expected moving forward.

Real stories from the LGBTQ+ community, including experiences of transgender individuals regarding coming out and adjustments in the workplace, will also be a vital aspect of the sessions, helping to create a deeper understanding of these issues.

In summary, the LGBT-Ally Project 2025 is a transformative initiative that reflects positive steps towards inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community, fostering a culture of understanding and allyship across participating companies.
