Kazakhstan Unveils Its First Multi-Functional Community Center in Kosshy

On March 20, 2025, a notable milestone was marked in Kazakhstan with the opening of the first multi-functional community center in Kosshy, a city in the Akmola region. This initiative, a collaboration between Verny Capital and the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, sets a new benchmark for community development in the area.

The newly launched center, encompassing a sprawling 8,550 square meters, is built to international standards and represents an investment of approximately 20 million dollars. The project aims to improve local infrastructures and provide residents with enhanced access to education, recreational activities, and social engagement opportunities.

A Hub for Community Activities

The Kosshy Community Center is designed with a wide array of amenities catering to diverse interests and needs. Among its facilities are a 233-seat cinema, a spacious conference hall accommodating 328 attendees, exhibition halls, creative studios, co-working spaces, and even a library. Sporting activities are well-catered for as well, with a versatile gymnasium, outdoor fields for soccer, basketball, volleyball, and tennis, plus specialized training zones and an amphitheater for community events.

Children can engage in various programs, including robotics, chess, dance, and arts and crafts. For adults, the center offers co-working spaces and educational sessions aimed at personal and professional development.

Bulat Utemuratov, the founder of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, expressed the foundation's commitment to modern and accessible infrastructure development that enhances the quality of life for communities across Kazakhstan. He stated, "This community center utilizes world-class practices, creating a space where the residents of Kosshy can learn, engage, and thrive."

The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister, Yermek Kosherbayev, the Governor of Akmola region, Marat Akhmetzhanov, and the foundation's board chairman, Dr. Almaz Sharman.

Significance of Community Centers

Community centers like the one in Kosshy are crucial for fostering integration and social development. They provide open and inclusive spaces that promote education, collaboration, and physical activity. This center is the second major social initiative undertaken by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation in the city, following the donation of a modern secondary school for 1,500 students in September 2023.

The Kosshy Community Center not only serves as a revolutionary addition to the city's landscape but also acts as a model for future developments across Kazakhstan. It sets a precedent for other cities in the country to create similar facilities that encourage social cohesion, education, and community engagement. As Kazakhstan moves towards modernity, such facilities become increasingly vital in shaping a well-rounded society committed to growth and progress.

In conclusion, the establishment of the Kosshy Community Center is a testament to the dedication towards enhancing community infrastructure and accessibility, enabling residents to enjoy a wide range of services that cater to their educational and social needs while fostering a sense of belonging and engagement. This development is expected to inspire further initiatives that will pave the way for a vibrant and interconnected society in Kazakhstan.
