The panel's recommendations included:

2. Distinguishing Potential from Performance: Success in current roles does not guarantee readiness for leadership responsibilities. HiPo programs must assess a combination of cognitive abilities, social competencies, and self-management alongside leadership agility to identify suitable candidates.

3. Balancing Growth with Support: Although stretch assignments are vital for development, integrating structured mentorship will ensure employees feel supported and engaged throughout their growth journey. This balance is crucial for maintaining morale and productivity.

4. Demonstrating ROI: The need for establishing clear connections between leadership development efforts and measurable business outcomes was highlighted. Organizations should develop frameworks that track return on investment, allowing for continual optimization of HiPo initiatives.

Following the session, both Kinney and Senior Director Alissa Parr reflected on the prevalent reliance on intuition over data-driven analytics in talent management. Kinney remarked, “By continuing to rely on subjective manager recommendations rather than validated, multi-method psychometric data, organizations are essentially guessing who their future leaders will be.” Their collaborative work with pioneering global brands reinforces the necessity of structured and scientific frameworks, particularly crucial in today's AI-driven landscape.

Amid the conference, an intriguing research paper was also presented by two Talogy scholars, Dr. Nataliya Baytalskaya and Hilary Butera, in collaboration with Wilfrid Laurier University. Titled 'Candidate Generative AI Use in Pre-Hire Employment Assessments', the study investigated how warning messages could help deter applicants from misusing AI tools during hiring processes. Baytalskaya remarked, “The momentum our research is gaining highlights a need in the industry to explore simple, yet effective solutions to AI usage concerns. Our findings illustrate that safeguarding assessment integrity can coexist with fostering trust between employers and candidates.”
