Elisa Industriq's Gridle Expands Reach with New Battery Optimization Contracts
Elisa Industriq's energy division, known as Gridle, is taking a significant step forward in the landscape of battery optimization with the announcement of three new customer agreements. These partnerships, formed with Nivos, Enereon, and Puutarha Timo Juntti, collectively amount to a remarkable capacity of 22 MW / 44 MWh. This milestone demonstrates Gridle's transition from solely optimizing distributed battery systems for telecom, industrial, and residential applications to handling larger, centralized battery systems on a grid scale.
In a statement made by Jukka-Pekka Salmenkaita, the Managing Director of Gridle, he commented on the significance of these new contracts, stating, "These agreements mark a clear next step for Gridle. We started by optimizing thousands of distributed batteries, the most demanding asset types to manage. Now we are applying the same intelligence to larger, centralized battery systems, demonstrating that our platform works across battery sizes and use cases."
The individual projects under these contracts exhibit diverse applications and objectives. Nivos Oy, a Finnish energy provider, is making strides in battery energy storage with an aim to bolster electricity network functions, gain intricate insights into grid behavior, and engage actively in both electricity and reserve markets. Their project will feature two battery systems each with a capacity of 5 MW / 10 MWh.
Marko Ahl, the CEO of Nivos, cited their selection of Gridle as a trusted partner due to its extensive experience and proven effectiveness. He expressed optimism about the project's progress, revealing that the systems are scheduled for commissioning in August.
Enereon, another key collaborator, is a Finnish energy investment company with ambitions rooted in grid-scale battery energy storage projects. Their inaugural venture involves a 10 MW / 20 MWh battery facility located in Outokumpu, Finland, which is being optimized and managed by Gridle. Tuomo Mertaniemi of Enereon is keen on leveraging this investment to stabilize the Finnish electricity system while expanding battery capacities.
Lastly, Puutarha Timo Juntti Oy, a family-owned greenhouse entity, is employing Gridle’s optimization capabilities for a 2 MW / 4 MWh battery energy storage solution integral to its energy-intensive agricultural operations. Tero Juntti, the company's CEO, articulated that the investment is aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and unlocking new opportunities within the energy market.
Gridle's AI-driven service is designed to maximize the value of flexible energy resources, transforming energy flexibility into financial advantages.
