A Groundbreaking Event for Children's Care
In a pioneering move, NPO Chai Bora, located in Toshima, Tokyo, has partnered with the Kinki Children's Care Facility Association to launch Japan's first-ever metaverse job fair specifically for children's care facilities in the Kinki region. This remarkable event will feature a total of 14 children’s care facilities across areas such as Shiga, Nara, Kyoto, Osaka, Wakayama, and Hyogo, making it a unique gathering in Japan.
Addressing Recruitment Challenges
Traditionally, there has been a significant gap in effectively communicating the allure and working environment of children’s care facilities to job seekers. Chai Bora’s initiative aims to overcome these challenges by utilizing cutting-edge technology and the metaverse to enhance information dissemination. This is particularly important as there hasn’t been a joint recruitment event of this scale in the Kinki region previously.
Chai Bora has previously engaged in various activities to raise awareness about social care, including events featuring former facility residents and discussions with child consultation center staff. This feedback led the Kinki Children's Care Facility Association to express a keen interest in hosting such an event in their region, catalyzing its development.
Participants can enter the metaverse as avatars, allowing for anonymity and a relaxed atmosphere where they can explore job opportunities without concern for attire or environment. It breaks down psychological barriers, enabling attendees who are merely curious about the field to participate without pressure. For those who are not yet actively job hunting but hold an interest in the sector, this platform provides an ideal entry point.

Anticipation and Expectations for the Event
The Kinki Children's Care Facility Association has emphasized how the metaverse can bridge the disparity in recruitment rates between urban and rural areas, opening doors to a broader demographic interested in childcare and welfare jobs. They view it as a valuable tool to promote the appeal of the profession. The committee is keen on proposing innovative initiatives, especially aimed at engaging younger individuals passionate about exploring new opportunities in care and welfare.
In addition, representatives like Mr. Shiromura from Irifune Ryo have voiced hopes that the event will allow for the recruitment of passionate individuals regardless of their qualifications or experience, emphasizing the importance of enthusiasm for child support.
Chai Bora is dedicated to driving forward-thinking initiatives within child welfare and social care, and their upcoming metaverse event exemplifies their commitment to innovation in recruitment practices. Their commendable work has earned them recognition, as they were included in the 2024 Forbes Japan publication "100 Ways to Save the World."
