Denny's Commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month with Unique Mug to Support Student Scholarships

Denny's Honors Hispanic Heritage Month with Special Mug

In a heartfelt tribute during Hispanic Heritage Month, Denny's is taking a unique approach to celebrate cultural heritage. The restaurant chain has unveiled a limited-edition mug named 'Peace In Rest,' designed by 16-year-old artist Atlas Castro, a student from Austin High School in Texas. Atlas, who is also the son of Denny's Associate Creative Director, brings a youthful perspective to the iconic brand with his vibrant artwork.

The mug features an intriguing design that showcases a skeleton wearing a hat, holding a Denny's cup, integrating elements of traditional Mexican folk art with a modern twist. This playful representation not only adds a whimsical energy to the artwork but also reflects Atlas's personal experiences as a budding artist.

Priced at $10, this mug is exclusively available at DinerDrip.com, with all proceeds directed towards the 'Hungry for Education®' scholarship program established by Denny's. This initiative is aimed at supporting students from diverse backgrounds to continue their education.

Atlas expresses, "I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, using art to narrate stories inspired by my learnings and experiences. For this piece, I drew inspiration from the works of Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada and my family's culture. I wanted it to reflect the beauty and traditions at the heart of Hispanic heritage."

Ellie Doty, Denny's Senior Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, shares the sentiment behind the initiative, stating, "To be America’s Diner has always meant more than just serving meals; it's about connection. This collaboration feels incredibly special as it originated from our internal team. Atlas's design is a celebration of heritage and creativity. Every mug sold will help another student write their own story and chase their dreams."

The 'Peace In Rest' mug embodies the vision of Atlas while continuously fostering creativity and community support as sales from the mug contribute to empowering students all over the country. Since its inception in 2011, the 'Hungry for Education' program has awarded over $2.7 million in scholarships to more than 650 students across the United States. Collaborating with over 30 nonprofit organizations, the program not only enables students to further their studies but also empowers them to create ideas that bring their communities together.
