Moldova Welcomes the 46th World Congress of Vine and Wine
From June 16 to 20, 2025, Moldova will play host to the 46th World Congress of Vine and Wine, coinciding with the 23rd General Assembly of the International Organization for Vine and Wine (OIV). This landmark event presents a unique opportunity for the Moldovan wine industry at a crucial juncture in its journey toward sustainable development.
The congress is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry and the National Office for Vine and Wine (ONVV). Scheduled to take place in Chișinău, the event aims to tackle pressing issues related to the challenges facing the wine sector in the coming years. As the world’s capital of vine and wine in 2025, Chișinău is rapidly evolving into one of Eastern Europe’s premier travel destinations, showcasing the strength of its viticulture.
Key topics of discussion will include resilient viticulture practices for sustainable ecosystems and innovative technologies in sustainable oenology. Important aspects such as corporate resilience, health, and safety will also be central to the agenda of the 46th congress, set against the picturesque backdrop of Moldova's vineyards.
Participants will be given the chance to immerse themselves in Moldova's rich wine culture through vineyard tours, networking events, and tastings that highlight the country's exciting wines and unique flavors. Driven by the campaign #10yearsofwinerevolution spearheaded by Wine of Moldova, key stakeholders have united towards a common goal: to forge a modern wine industry that promotes sustainability and technological innovation supported by the overarching national brand, Wine of Moldova.
Amid this dynamic backdrop, significant investments have been made in equipment and infrastructure projects, contributing to the development of Moldova as a modern 21st-century travel destination. The sustainable evolution of the wine sector aligns with the burgeoning export economy, currently ranking 14th globally, contributing approximately 3% to the nation’s total GDP. This shift not only aids rural communities but also strengthens Moldova's position in a globalized market.
Today, one in every four Moldovans is connected to the wine industry, with local wines reaching over 70 countries, illustrating the sector's global reach.
The 46th Congress promises to fortify Moldova’s standing as a significant player in high-quality wine production. As a country rich in technology and cultural attractions, Moldova is well-positioned to lead the structural development of its wine sector. This ambition is further exemplified by a groundbreaking AI project launched in 2024, which has garnered international acclaim.
The world will undoubtedly be watching Moldova and its remarkable wines this coming June, as the country gears up for an event that could reshape its viticultural landscape.
Stay tuned for updates on this landmark event, which highlights Moldova's rich tradition of winemaking and its commitment to a sustainable future in the industry.
