Veteran Jesse Presson Competes for 'Most Benevolent Beard in America' Title

Jesse Presson: A Veteran with a Heart for Change

Jesse Presson from Charlottesville, Virginia, proudly stands as one of five finalists in the Wahl® Benevolent Beards Contest. This competition celebrates not just impressive facial hair, but also the inspiring stories behind the beards.

As a U.S. Army Veteran, Jesse understands all too well the challenges veterans confront upon returning home. Many struggle with mental health issues, physical injuries, and the transition to civilian life. Jesse's journey reflects that reality. After leaving the military, he faced significant challenges, notably a traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These experiences were both isolating and debilitating.

His turning point came when he began undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). This innovative treatment significantly improved his condition and inspired him to dedicate his life to advocating for other veterans in need. Jesse now works with the Hyperbaric Wellness Foundation, which focuses on providing access to HBOT for veterans, particularly those who might be unaware of treatment options or unable to afford them.

Inspired by the positive impact that HBOT had on his life, Jesse is passionate about making this treatment available for all veterans. His commitment to this cause is what led him to participate in the Wahl® Benevolent Beards Contest.

Held annually, this contest highlights men who not only sport impressive beards but also dedicate their lives to philanthropy and community service. The public plays a key role in determining the winner through votes. The participant with the most votes will not only receive a cash prize of $5,000 but will also secure an additional $20,000 for their charity.

Jesse's story is one of resilience and determination, and he embodies the spirit of the contest perfectly. To vote for Jesse Presson and support his mission, fans and supporters can visit the Wahl grooming website until September 12, 2025.

“The goal is to make sure every veteran has access to the help they need,” Jesse emphasizes. In an era where mental health awareness is increasingly important, his work is a crucial reminder of the support systems required for returning servicemen and women.

In addition to Jesse, the contest features four other remarkable finalists, each with their own unique stories of giving back to their communities. From pediatric speech pathologists to those overcoming homelessness through barbering, these finalists exemplify commitment to service through their beards.

As the voting period progresses, Jesse’s supporters and community members rally behind him, realizing that each vote not only supports him but also further fuels the mission to provide vital medical support to veterans in need.

Wahl® Grooming, which is hosting the contest, has a rich history of innovation in men's grooming, from its first electric hair clipper in 1919 to its groundbreaking battery-powered facial hair trimmer. The company aims to uplift men’s grooming standards while rewarding acts of kindness and community service.

Jesse's drive and purpose go beyond just winning a contest; he seeks to maximize awareness about veterans' issues while spreading the word about the importance of accessible health care solutions. In doing so, Jesse Presson stands as a true ambassador for change, proving that a beard can represent not only style but also solidarity and compassion.
