New Exhibition 'FOR' by Sanada Shotaro
The Chain Museum is excited to announce the upcoming solo exhibition of artist
Sanada Shotaro, titled
'FOR', which will run from
January 31 to March 3, 2026 at the
Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8 Min, a unique space that combines an art gallery with a bakery and café. This marks the
15th exhibition organized in this space.
Sanada, born in
2000, has already made impressive strides in his artistic career, earning accolades like
Art Olympia 2022 and
Best Debutante of the Year 2025. He is known for his large-scale wall murals at
JR Nagano Station and
Ueno Station, as well as artwork for
Google Japan. His innovative approach focuses on interpreting the interplay of
gravity and
time within the context of contemporary life, creating bold abstract paintings that reflect our modern information environment.
The exhibition 'FOR' reflects on the modern act of
scrolling, which has become an inherent part of our daily routines. From the moment we awaken, we reach for our smartphones, scrolling through screens with our thumbs. Shotaro transforms this unconscious physical gesture into artistic strokes on canvas, capturing the essence of
gravity and
time through his unique lens. This exhibition presents new landscapes that navigate our digital society through the connection between
scrolling and the
vertical brushstroke in painting.
Attendees can look forward to seeing some of Shotaro’s largest works yet, along with a curation process that showcases the artist’s creative and contemplative journey. The exhibition aims to immerse visitors into a rich environment where art and conversation blend seamlessly.
On
January 30, 2026, a reception will be held from
7:30 PM to 9:00 PM (reservation required). During this event, there will be a performance featuring music and visuals, though please note that details are subject to change. All works displayed will be available for purchase starting at
7:30 PM on January 30 via a first-come-first-served basis.
For those interested in acquiring the artwork, a complete price list will be made available upon request. As some works may sell out during the pre-sale, we encourage interested buyers to act promptly.
