Major General Patrick Henry Brady to Receive Distinguished Service Award from MOWW

The Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) is honored to announce that Major General Patrick Henry Brady, USA (Retired), has been chosen as the recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Service Award for 2026. This significant accolade will be presented to him during a special ceremony at the MOWW's 106th National Convention scheduled for August 15, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.

Lt Colonel David J. Worley, USAF (Retired), currently serving as Commander-in-Chief of MOWW, will formally present the award. This honor recognizes individuals who have exemplified extraordinary dedication toward preserving constitutional liberties and have demonstrated significant contributions towards national defense and the education of the youth.

Major General Brady’s exemplary military career spans 34 years, during which he was awarded the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions during the Vietnam War. Notably, he undertook three daring helicopter missions to evacuate 51 critically injured soldiers from hostile environments, showcasing remarkable bravery and quick decision-making in challenging situations. Many of the soldiers he saved may not have survived without his timely and heroic interventions.

As the former President of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, General Brady has continued to influence military and civic values long after his military service. His contributions also extend to the Battle Monuments Commission, where he played a crucial role in the completion of the World War II memorial.

The location of the National Convention will be The Westin Riverwalk, situated at 420 W Market St, San Antonio, TX, 78205, where attendees will not only witness the presentation of the award but also hear a keynote address from Major General Brady during the Commander-in-Chief's Banquet. The media is welcomed to cover the event and hear the insights and reflections from this esteemed military figure. The MOWW is more than an organization; it was founded on the premise that former military officials carry forward the responsibility of serving the nation, a vision posited by General of the Armies John J. Pershing after World War I. The MOWW strongly promotes patriotism, civic duty, public service, and leadership within communities. Over the years, they have organized various Youth Leadership Conferences (YLC) aimed at providing high school students with insights into democratic principles, the Constitution, and the responsibilities of preserving American freedoms, often at minimal or no cost.

General Brady’s recognition underscores the enduring spirit of service that MOWW embodies, exemplifying the motto, 'It is nobler to serve than to be served.' His story serves as an inspiration not only to veterans but also to the youth, instilling values of courage and leadership that are essential for the future of the nation.

As preparations unfold for the 2026 National Convention, MOWW continues to honor those who elevate national security through various awards programs, recognition ceremonies, and leadership initiatives.
