International Roadshows Boost Success of the 138th Canton Fair

The global promotional campaign for the 138th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, has successfully concluded following a series of international roadshows conducted between July and September. These roadshows took place across ten countries, including Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Australia, Malaysia, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. The events highlighted the Canton Fair's strong commitment to enhancing international trade cooperation and garnered recognition from local business communities.

During the events in Turkey and the UK, Zhang Sihong, Deputy General Director of the China Foreign Trade Center (CFTC), emphasized the guiding principle of the fair: "Canton Fair, Global Participation." He encouraged buyers to utilize the fair’s digital tools, including its official app, enabling them to effectively plan their visits and connect with China’s extensive supply chains.

In Australia and Malaysia, Su Bin, another Deputy General Director at CFTC, pointed out the complementary nature of the economies of China and Australia, along with the robust collaboration history between the two nations. He urged buyers to maximize the Canton Fair as a platform to seize new business opportunities amidst a period of strong bilateral trade momentum.

Furthermore, Ma Fengmin, Deputy General Director of CFTC, spoke at events in Japan and Mongolia, acknowledging the well-established history of Japanese buyers at the fair and the growing participation of Mongolian businesses. He mentioned that the upcoming edition of the fair would feature higher quality exhibitors, a more diverse range of supporting activities, and enhanced services tailored for international attendees.

In Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Liu Xiaomin, Director of Exhibitions at CFTC, stressed the fair's role as a reliable sourcing center, providing quality products. He cited China’s status as a top trading partner for Kazakhstan and strong demand from Uzbekistan, highlighting the fair's regional influence.

Additionally, in Thailand and Bangladesh, Xu Jiansheng, CFTC's Director of Operations, spotlighted the fair’s alignment with local needs, noting its position as a golden bridge for expanding cooperation in textiles, machinery, and home appliances.

In addition to promotional events, CFTC conducted a comprehensive market research initiative, visiting leading retailers such as Don Quijote in Japan, Coles in Australia, Lotus's in Malaysia, and Currys in the UK. In Kazakhstan, CFTC signed a global cooperation agreement with the Almaty branch of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs "Atameken."

The 138th Canton Fair is set to open on October 15 in Guangzhou and promises to deliver a more refined exhibition structure, higher quality products, a wider array of events, and improved services.
