Details of the Press Conference
The press conference, held at Ehime University's Joho Campus, featured remarks from several key individuals. Hidenori Yahiro, the Director of the Education and Student Support Organization, outlined the various challenges currently faced in education, highlighting the objectives behind this collaborative endeavor. Following this, Satoshi Ochiai, Senior Executive Officer at Japan System Technology, provided an overview of the company and its vision, emphasizing their commitment to social problem-solving through this research. To conclude, Toshiki Nakai, the Deputy Director of the Research, along with Ryo Manabe, a specially appointed assistant professor, elaborated on the specifics of the research project.
Research Objectives and Future Prospects
The Education Planning Office at Ehime University is leveraging its expertise in Institutional Research (IR) to tackle issues related to student dropout rates and enhance academic support systems. The joint research aims to create an Early Alert System that utilizes the 'Graduation Forecast Model'—a proprietary tool of the university—and Japan System Technology's educational management system, GAKUEN. This collaborative venture will visualize students' learning statuses using accumulated educational data, thereby allowing students to better understand their academic situations.
The research will analyze historical data to extract factors influencing graduation, applying these insights to current students. In doing so, it will identify students in need of support, allowing faculty members to engage with them appropriately and timely through counseling or discussions. Furthermore, this approach will aid in identifying educational challenges and improving course designs to enhance the overall educational quality.
The research is scheduled to continue until March 31, 2025, with aspirations to broaden its implementation to universities across the nation. The project aims to significantly contribute to the establishment of a solid educational foundation in Japan.
Commitment to Educational Improvement
Ehime University is committed to further enhancing educational quality and student support through this innovative collaboration with corporate partners. By promoting advanced initiatives like this, the university helps to ensure its students achieve their academic and professional goals.
