SEGA has announced that the open beta test for its upcoming fighting game, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, will kick off on October 2, 2025, and run through to October 7, 2025. Gamers can join this test across multiple platforms, including PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), without needing a subscription to the online services or a Sega Account.

Participation Details

Participants can easily join by navigating to the store page of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. on their respective platforms and clicking on the participation button. The beta will allow players to experience the game’s mechanics and features ahead of its official release. Notably, the beta will also support arcade-stick controllers, certified as Official Licensed Products for PlayStation®4.

New Features in World Stage Mode

This upcoming title introduces an exciting new World Stage mode, where players can dive into single-player tournaments set in various global locations, aiming to become the champion. Global Final Details Announced

In addition to the beta test, SEGA has confirmed the Global Final for the Virtua Fighter Open Championship, which will take place on March 1, 2026, at the TOKYO NODE in Toranomon Hills, Tokyo. This prestigious event will feature the best players from around the world, and it will be open for public viewing along with live streaming. The format promises to be thrilling, and prize amounts reach up to $100,000 for the champion!

- 3rd Place: $6,000
- 4th Place: $3,000
- 5th - 10th Place: $1,000 each

Announcing a New Comic Series

SEGA is also launching a new vertical scrolling comic project based on the Virtua Fighter series! Titled “14-Year-Old and 3 Months: Sent Back to Summer 1995, I Went to the Game Center and Cried - Virtua Fighter Sisters (tentative)”, the comic aims to expand the narrative universe. Character designs will be led by Kanna Hirayama, known for her work in the critically acclaimed anime “Oshi no Ko”, while Yoriko Tomita, known for “Hi Score Girl”, will handle the story. From September 30, 2025, to October 7, 2025, the PC (Steam) version of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will have an Autumn Sale, offering a 30% discount on the regular edition and 35% off on the 30th Anniversary Edition. Following the sale, the PC version will automatically upgrade to Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage on its release date of October 30, 2025.
