Cybozu and Matsumaka Town: A Partnership for Community Collaboration
In a significant move towards enhancing community collaboration, Cybozu Inc., based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, has entered into a cooperative agreement with Matsumaka Town, Ehime Prefecture. This initiative, known as the 'Teamwork City Masaki Project,' aims to leverage the capabilities of Cybozu's cloud service 'kintone' for driving digital transformation (DX) in the region. Launched on April 10, 2026, this three-year project is designed to foster information sharing and teamwork among the local administration, organizations, and residents.
Background of the Collaboration
Cybozu's core mission is to create a society abundant in teamwork. To fulfill this vision, the company has consistently worked on developing and offering cloud services that promote information sharing and dialog within organizations. However, Cybozu recognizes that merely providing tools is not enough to cultivate a truly collaborative society. A structured approach towards fostering a culture conducive to teamwork at the community level is essential.
In light of this, Cybozu established the 'Teamwork-Building CityOffice' in July 2025 to facilitate communication and information sharing through IT, aiming for a 'Teamwork City' where the entire community functions as one cohesive unit.
On the other hand, Matsumaka Town has laid out its future vision as a city full of joy to live in, focusing on addressing pressing issues such as declining population, aging society, disaster preparedness, information technology adaptation (including AI), support for child-rearing, community coexistence, and sustainable practices.
Recognizing common ground, both parties agreed to collaborate on the 'Teamwork City Masaki Project,' with the objective of utilizing Cybozu’s products, including kintone, to realize a digitally transformed collaborative community.
Details of the Cooperative Agreement
The partnership encompasses several key elements:
- - Matsumaka Town will implement the following using kintone and its related products:
- Advancing DX within the municipal office.
- Supporting community teamwork initiatives.
- Improving the welfare and convenience of local residents.
- - Cybozu will provide licenses and operational support for the usage of kintone and related products.
Duration of the Project
The project is set to last for three years, with the progress evaluated each year to decide whether to continue. A pilot phase to assess the feasibility of the 'Teamwork City' concept will run from January to March 2026, targeting municipal offices and community organizations. Early results indicate potential time savings of approximately 1,000 hours annually, along with efforts to reduce paper usage by around 2,500 sheets and a projected cut in outsourcing costs by approximately 20 million yen through enhanced operational efficiency with kintone.
Future Prospects
The pilot trial has confirmed that utilizing kintone can effectively address not only municipal affairs but also diverse community challenges. The immediate focus will be on accelerating DX within the municipal office, subsequently expanding the utilization of kintone to encompass a broader range of community members and organizations. Ultimately, the goal is for all residents and stakeholders to actively engage in solving local issues through 'Town-Wide DX', thereby nurturing a tightly knit communal fabric.
This partnership between Cybozu and Matsumaka Town represents a forward-thinking approach to community engagement and digital innovation, with the potential to set a precedent for other regions seeking to harness technology for better teamwork and collaboration within their communities.
