Fortune has officially released its prestigious 2025 Global 500 list, ranking the largest companies worldwide by their revenues for the fiscal year 2024. Topping this list for the twelfth consecutive year is Walmart, a title it has securely held since 2014. Following Walmart are major entities such as Amazon, the State Grid of China, Saudi Aramco, and China National Petroleum, reflecting the ongoing dominance of American and Chinese corporations in the global market.

The combined revenue of the top ten firms in the Fortune Global 500 exceeded $370 billion, totaling a staggering $4.7 trillion across the entire list. With 138 companies recognized, the United States maintains its lead over Greater China, which houses 130 companies—three fewer than the previous year. Notably, eight out of the ten most profitable firms hail from the USA, highlighting significant economic strength in this sector.

In another significant development, the number of female CEOs in the Fortune Global 500 reached a new record of 33, representing 6.6% of the list. This marks a notable increase from the previous year, with prominent leaders including Mary Barra of GM, recognized as one of the most powerful women in business for 2025, and others like Gail K. Boudreaux from Elevance Health and Jane Fraser from Citigroup, showcasing a growing presence of women in high executive roles.

The financial sector continues to dominate the list significantly, with 121 companies in the ranking, followed by energy (79), automotive (35), technology (34), and healthcare (33). These five sectors collectively represent 60% of the companies and account for 66% of total revenue on the list.
