Empowering Children to Judge AI Responses at Inbas Academy Workshop

Empowering Children in the Age of AI

As artificial intelligence becomes an integral part of our daily lives, the question arises: How do we evaluate the accuracy of AI's answers? In response, Inbas Academy, led by President Takashi Torihara, is hosting an experiential workshop on April 2nd, designed specifically for elementary students.

The Importance of Judgment in the AI Era

With the rise of generative AIs capable of enhancing productivity and creativity, concerns have emerged regarding the reliability of AI. Parents and educators are increasingly questioning whether AI’s output can be accepted as is, or if human judgment should always be involved. The more we use AI, the clearer these inquiries become.

At Inbas Academy, we believe that for children who will lead the world in the future, mastering technology isn't solely about knowing how to use AI. It's about developing the ability to 'think critically and decide wisely' based on AI-generated results. The aim of this workshop is to provide practical experiences that foster this crucial skill.

A Partnership with AI for Better Judgments

The goal of Inbas Academy isn't about relinquishing decision-making to AI but rather using the insights provided by AI to enable students to engage in critical thinking and make their own judgments. While AI is adept at organizing data and suggesting perspectives, the interpretation and decision-making from that information is fundamentally a human endeavor.

During the workshop, participants will explore:
  • - Mindset to Question AI Outputs: Encouraging students to critically evaluate the results provided by AI.
  • - Formulating Relevant Questions: Learning how to ask the right questions to avoid incorrect judgments.
  • - Engaging in Dialogue with AI: Deepening their thought processes by interacting with AI.

By fostering a relationship where students can thoughtfully engage with AI, we prepare them to navigate its complexities.

Learning Outcomes and Experiences

The workshop will combine lectures that provide essential knowledge with practical thinking experiences using Inbas Basket. Participants will interact with AI outputs, reflecting on questions such as, “Why did I choose this judgment?” and “How do I interpret and utilize AI’s suggestions?” This reflection process highlights the significance of careful consideration and helps students identify their reasoning framework.

We aim for this to be a transformative experience that extends beyond mere technical know-how of AI; it is also an opportunity to strengthen the practice of decision-making itself.
