Celebrating a Decade of ALS Awareness with MOVE FES. 2026 Music Festival

MOVE FES. 2026: Celebrating a Decade of ALS Awareness

In a groundbreaking effort to promote awareness of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), the MOVE FES. 2026 music festival is set to take place on June 20, 2026, at the EX Theater in Roppongi, Tokyo. With a history that began in 2016, this festival marks its 10th anniversary, showcasing a vibrant tapestry of music, technology, and conversation to highlight the lives of those living with ALS.

The festival is organized by the general incorporation corporation, WITH ALS, which aims to provide a platform for understanding ALS through creative expression. This year's overarching theme, “THANKS X RESPECT. A decade of gratitude and respect.” reflects the event's commitment to supporting patients and their families through various artistic channels.

HOME MADE KAZOKU Joins the Celebration

One of the festival's most anticipated highlights is the participation of the popular hip-hop group HOME MADE KAZOKU, which consists of MICRO, KURO, and DJ U-ICHI. Known for their empowering lyrics that resonate with themes of life, connection, and resilience, the group's performance will be their first at MOVE FES since 2016. The return of HOME MADE KAZOKU is particularly special, as member KURO has participated in previous editions of the festival, embodying the festival’s vision of “NO LIMIT, YOUR LIFE.”

As stated by the festival's producer, MASA WATANABE (EYE VDJ MASA), who is also living with ALS, the addition of HOME MADE KAZOKU marks a significant moment for the 10-year celebration. Their music speaks to the spirit of the event, reinforcing a message of perseverance and encouragement.

A Lineup of Diverse Performers

Aside from HOME MADE KAZOKU, the event will welcome a variety of other artists, such as Kiyoharu, Takahito Uchizawa (androp), and many more. The festival will include not only live performances but also talk segments and a virtual presence via live streaming (ZAIKO) and the metaverse platform (Spatial). This inclusive approach allows individuals to participate either in-person, from their homes, or through an online interface, thus creating a borderless festival experience.

Among the planned activities, expect an ALS Talk Show featuring esteemed experts who will address the challenges and advancements concerning ALS. This interaction aims to enrich the audience's understanding and foster a supportive community around this challenging condition.

Understanding ALS

ALS is a debilitating neurological condition where motor neurons progressively degenerate, leading to a gradual loss of muscle control while cognitive functions remain intact. There is currently no known cure, and the average life expectancy post-diagnosis is typically 3 to 5 years, underscoring the need for awareness initiatives like MOVE FES.
