ART×LIFE: The Endless Vitality of Materials
The upcoming exhibition titled
ART×LIFE: The Endless Vitality of Materials is set to take place at the Japan-China Friendship Center Art Museum in Bunkyo City, Tokyo from
July 5 to August 3, 2025. This exhibition showcases a dynamic blend of
mixed media artworks created by 17 talented artists associated with the China Cultural Arts Development Association.
This exhibition aims to unveil the innovative spirit and diversity of contemporary Chinese art, highlighting how the artists use a wide array of materials and techniques to create powerful expressions that transcend the conventional appearances and purposes of their materials. Viewers can look forward to an array of paintings, installations, and video art that inspire new ways of perceiving the essence of artistic materials.
What is Mixed Media?
Mixed media is a contemporary art technique that combines various materials and methods, allowing artists to expand the scope of their expressions significantly. Originating in the early 20th century with movements like Dadaism and Papiers collés, mixed media art can now be seen in diverse forms combining different textures and media. Each material's unique properties overlap and interact, creating a rich tapestry of artistic expression.
