NRT Behavioral Health Opens Doors to Colorado Medicaid Plans for Greater Access to Care
NRT Behavioral Health Expands Coverage for Colorado Residents
NRT Behavioral Health is making significant strides in improving access to mental health treatment in Colorado by announcing the acceptance of Colorado Access and Colorado Community Health Alliance plans. This development will enable NRT's treatment facilities, including Foundry Steamboat, Foundry Front Range, and Foundry Outpatient Steamboat, to accommodate clients enrolled in various Colorado Medicaid plans.
Why This Matters
Colorado has segmented its Medicaid program into four areas, each overseen by a Regional Accountable Entity (RAE). Among these, Colorado Access operates as a nonprofit RAE managing Medicaid plans in key counties including Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, and Douglas. Meanwhile, CCHA oversees plans for residents in Boulder, Broomfield, and surrounding counties. Combined, both organizations manage around 70% of Colorado's Medicaid beneficiaries. As of September 2025, approximately 1,235,008 individuals were enrolled in Health First Colorado plans, highlighting the importance of accessible healthcare solutions.
This initiative by NRT Behavioral Health not only aims to expand treatment options for those with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders but also to ensure affordability and accessibility. Research indicates that Colorado continues to witness a higher-than-average prevalence of mental health disorders and substance abuse, making this move crucial in mitigating barriers to care.
Commitment to Quality Care
Keenan van de Boogaard, CEO of NRT Behavioral Health, expressed enthusiasm about this new collaboration. “We are thrilled to be able to welcome people using Colorado Access and CCHA plans. We strongly believe in making the highest-quality integrated treatment available to every Coloradan. Accepting all Colorado Medicaid plans and becoming in-network with most commercial insurances is one of our primary goals. Today, we take another step toward broadening pathways to recovery in some of our state’s most populous communities,” he stated.
NRT Behavioral Health offers a comprehensive range of treatment programs, including residential, outpatient, and telehealth options aimed at supporting individuals in their recovery journey. Foundry Front Range, situated in Broomfield, provides gender-specific care in a 73-bed detoxification and residential setting for adults. Additionally, Foundry Treatment Center Steamboat exists to cater exclusively to men, while the outpatient branch offers intensive programs both in-person and virtually. NRT's commitment to telehealth exemplifies their dedication to adapting to the needs of Colorado and Wyoming residents in the face of modern healthcare challenges.
Toward a Healthier Future
As NRT Behavioral Health embraces partnerships with Colorado Access and Colorado Community Health Alliance, the expectation is not merely to improve access but to foster a healthier population. These partnerships serve as a vital step forward in a state where treatment access is necessary to address the growing needs of individuals experiencing mental health challenges and substance-related issues.
