Sekisui Chemical Receives Sports Agency's Sports Award for 2026

Sekisui Chemical Honored with the Sports Agency's 'Sports Award for 2026'

In a recent announcement, Sekisui Chemical Industries, under the leadership of President Ikusuke Shimizu, has been awarded the prestigious title of 'Sports Award Company 2026' by the Sports Agency of Japan. This recognition is a testament to Sekisui's continuous efforts to promote employee health through various sports initiatives. Remarkably, this marks the fourth consecutive year of receiving this accolade since 2023.

Commitment to Employee Health

Sekisui Chemical Group firmly believes that its employees are valuable assets entrusted by society. As part of its management strategy, the company prioritizes health promotion, aiming for the Well-Being of every employee both physically, mentally, and socially. This approach has been a cornerstone of Sekisui’s operations, grounded in the idea that a healthy workforce enhances overall productivity and innovation.

The company has been supporting sports activities since the 1960s, recognizing not only the physical benefits but also the positive impact on mental resilience and motivation. By providing engaging and enjoyable sporting events, Sekisui actively fosters communication and connections among its employees, contributing to the realization of a vibrant workplace, which is part of its broader vision.

Promoting Well-Being and Innovation

Sekisui Chemical Group is dedicated to enhancing the Well-Being of its employees, which, in turn, drives innovation that addresses societal challenges. The company aspires to contribute to a sustainable society through its business practices. Here are some key initiatives undertaken by the Sekisui Chemical Group:

1. Sports Clinics and Community Events

The Sekisui Women's Athletics Team, known as the Sekisui Fairies, actively engages within the company by hosting health events at factories and research centers, contributing to four such events. Additionally, they participate as guest runners in various running competitions held across the nation, attending around eight events annually.

Furthermore, the Sekisui Challengers, a semi-professional American football team, conducted engaging activities in Osaka, such as Halloween-themed events, where they introduced the team and held photo sessions for employees and their families. In Kyoto, initiatives like cheerleading experience events for children were organized, aiming to increase the understanding and support for American football among the community.

2. Implementing Health Support Apps

Another innovative approach involves the introduction of a health management application called 'Karomama Plus'. This app assists employees in recording vital health metrics such as diet, exercise, and sleep, and offers personalized advice through AI. To encourage participation, Sekisui organizes walking events that feature both individual and team categories, enhancing camaraderie among employees. The event also includes prizes, such as merchandise from the Sekisui Challengers, motivating individuals to make exercise a part of their lifestyle. Notably, the number of app registrants has surpassed 4,000 and continues to grow annually.

Building a Culture of Challenge

The Sekisui Chemical Group remains steadfast in its mission to build a culture of challenge among its workforce while prioritizing health. With initiatives tailored not just to enhance physical fitness but also to create strong community ties among employees, Sekisui is leading the way in promoting a healthy, engaged, and dynamic workforce.
