SINEXCEL Achieves Breakthrough with 107.12MW Energy Storage System in China

SINEXCEL’s Energy Storage System Revolutionizes Aluminum Manufacturing

In a significant milestone for energy efficiency in China, SINEXCEL (300693.SZ) has completed the connection of a cutting-edge energy storage system in Guangyuan, Sichuan Province. This innovative battery energy storage system (BESS) boasts a remarkable capacity of 107.12 MW and 428.48 MWh, marking a leap forward for industrial energy management, particularly within the aluminum production sector.

Addressing Energy Challenges in Aluminum Production

The aluminum manufacturing process is notoriously energy-intensive, consuming approximately 13 to 15 MWh of power to produce just one ton of aluminum. In fact, energy costs can account for up to 40% of the overall production expenses. Additionally, power outages can lead to critical financial losses, as they may cause the electrolyte to freeze, resulting in damages that can run into millions of yuan. To mitigate these issues, SINEXCEL’s new energy storage system is designed to provide reliable backup power and optimize energy consumption.

Utilizing a strategy known as peak shaving, this system will allow Zhongfu Industrial, the aluminum production company behind this project, to store cheaper off-peak electricity and utilize it during peak tariff times. This approach is expected to yield approximately 140 yuan in savings per ton of aluminum produced, translating to annual savings exceeding 60 million yuan and a substantial reduction of around 52,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year.

Technical Excellence and Robust Design

At the core of this project lies SINEXCEL’s PCS system, which consists of 104 units, each with a capacity of 1725 kW, complemented by 5 MWh battery containers arranged in a highly efficient direct current architecture. Engineered specifically for the demanding conditions of industrial environments, the PCS system operates at reduced output to prolong its lifespan.

The system is equipped with rapid response capabilities, responding within milliseconds to ensure seamless backup power during grid anomalies, thus preventing costly downtime in production. With an impressive efficiency rating of 98.5%, the system promises significant long-term energy savings.

Furthermore, the equipment boasts an IP54 protection rating, shielding it from dust and extreme conditions typically found in aluminum manufacturing. Such features prevent the accelerated aging often seen in conventional systems.

Meeting International Standards and Achievements

The 1725 kW PCS system is fully certified according to CE, VDE 4110/4120, and EN 50549 standards for European markets. It also complies with grid codes in the United States, Australia, Japan, and Thailand, underscoring its versatility in various international markets. Cumulatively, SINEXCEL’s global deliveries have exceeded 1 GW, reinforcing its status in the energy sector.

A Testament to Industrial Green Transformation

From powering the largest integration of wind farms in Latvia to enabling this advanced storage system in a commercial setting, SINEXCEL’s PCS system demonstrates exceptional adaptability. With a presence in over 60 countries and an installed capacity exceeding 17 GW/50 GWh, SINEXCEL continues to provide cost-effective, high-performance hardware solutions in the public utility and industrial sectors worldwide.

Founded in 2007, SINEXCEL has been a pioneer in energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and power quality solutions. With a portfolio of 17 GW of energy storage capacity, 200,000 DC charging stations, and nearly 20 million amps of deployed active harmonic filters, the company collaborates with industry leaders to enhance energy independence.
