Pope Leo XIV Set to Connect with American Youth in a Historic Digital Encounter
EWTN Announces Historic Digital Encounter with Pope Leo XIV
In a groundbreaking announcement, EWTN Global Catholic Network has revealed that it will act as the exclusive media partner for Pope Leo XIV's very first digital visit with American Catholic youth. This momentous occasion is set to take place at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) that will be held in Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, on November 21, 2025. This unique event will connect the Holy Father, live from the Vatican, with thousands of young individuals gathered in the stadium and many more watching online across the globe.
Michael P. Warsaw, Chairman and CEO of EWTN, stated, "Since our inception, EWTN has been a gathering place for the faithful, transcending distances and time zones for significant moments in the Church’s history." He emphasized the importance of adapting their media platforms to better serve younger audiences, believing that this historic encounter is designed to inspire the youth and bring them closer to the Church.
Montse Alvarado, President and COO of EWTN News, shared her excitement about partnering with NCYC and the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) for such a critical event in the lives of American youths. It marks a special moment, particularly since this is the first American Pope engaging directly with this demographic. Alvarado also pointed out that the announcement was made on August 15, coinciding with the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the 44th anniversary of EWTN's initial broadcast.
The structure of the encounter will include opening remarks from Pope Leo XIV, a live question-and-answer session involving youth representatives, and an inspiring closing blessing from the Pope, all of which take place within the downtown Indianapolis venue. Furthermore, EWTN will extend its coverage to include additional programming from NCYC from November 20 to 22, allowing global audiences to participate in prayer, catechesis, and celebratory events happening in Indiana.
“This encounter with Pope Leo XIV marks an essential milestone for American youth,” added Warsaw. “We are thrilled to offer EWTN’s services for the 2025 conference, providing a global platform for NCYC, NFCYM, and the Holy Father’s message.” More details on how to participate in this transformative experience can be found through the NCYC's official website at ncyc.us.
As EWTN commemorates its 45th anniversary, it stands as the largest Catholic media organization, operating eleven global television channels in multiple languages, alongside various media platforms like international radio services and an extensive online presence. EWTN News also encompasses a variety of global news services, including the Catholic News Agency and several other multilingual platforms.
Given EWTN's mission to deliver the Church’s teachings globally and support the youth in their faith journey, this digital encounter with Pope Leo XIV represents a remarkable dedication and vision for the future generation. Besides fostering faith, this initiative aims to strengthen the connection between the youth and the heart of the Church, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding and engagement with their Catholic identity.
