APAMAN's 33rd Dance Project
The latest edition of APAMAN's popular dance initiative, known as the “47 Prefecture Dance Project,” features the beautiful region of Okayama, which is renowned as the birthplace of the beloved folklore hero Momotaro. Scheduled for release on January 7, 2026, this dance production highlights APAMAN’s official character, Beary, as he takes on the theme of the famous tale in a vibrant display meant to engage audiences.
Beary Takes Center Stage
In this delightful performance, Beary, dressed in attire inspired by Momotaro, teams up with his companions—a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant—to showcase the charms of Okayama through energetic dance. The choreography, designed to be both catchy and easy to emulate, is expected to captivate viewers while spreading regional awareness. This dance not only celebrates local culture but also promotes the unique features of Okayama, encouraging participants to join in on social media platforms with their own renditions.
Objectives of the Initiative
This project aims to root APAMAN deeper within the communities it serves by promoting the unique attributes of each prefecture in Japan. Through various engaging performances featuring local landscapes and products, the aim is to invigorate regional economies. Additionally, this aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 11 focused on creating sustainable cities. This initiative also aims at contributing to economic growth under Goal 8, which emphasizes decent work opportunities.
The Dance of Momotaro
The “Demon-Slaying Dance” transforms the world of Momotaro into a fun dance experience. Featuring a quick-paced rhythm, this dance is perfect for social media sharing—distilled into a 15-second clip designed for anyone to easily participate. The steps include: turning right, stepping with one foot, and a energetic sequence that leads to the climactic dance finale!
Okayama: A Region to Embrace
Okayama, known as the “Land of Sunshine,” boasts a climate that is both stable and pleasant, with minimal rainfall throughout the year. This makes it an ideal choice for those looking for a comfortable life. Additionally, rental prices in Okayama are relatively affordable compared to other urban areas, with many properties featuring spacious layouts and parking options. Its well-developed transport links connecting Okayama City and Kurashiki City make it not just livable but also attractive for families and relocating workers alike.
The area is celebrated not just for its practical living conditions, but also for its rich history, warm hospitality, and bountiful agriculture. It stands as a model of urban convenience and tranquil rural charm—a truly appealing place to make a home.
