Jan Lambrechts Advocates for Ethical AI Adoption and Workforce Reinvention at World Chambers Congress

Emphasizing Ethical AI Adoption for a Resilient Workforce

At the 14th World Chambers Congress held in Melbourne, Jan Lambrechts, the founder and global CEO of Epitome Global, delivered a compelling keynote speech to over 1,500 attendees from more than 100 countries, including business and government leaders. His address underscored the urgency of embracing ethical artificial intelligence (AI) and adapting the workforce to drive resilient economies in the modern age.

Lambrechts' speech outlined the pressing need for a transformative approach to workforce dynamics, recognizing the role of AI not as a foe that replaces jobs but as a catalyst for new opportunities. He vehemently refuted the myth that AI threatens employment, stating, "The idea that AI is taking our jobs is completely false. New roles in AI-related fields, such as engineering and prompt engineering, are rapidly emerging." He emphasized that individuals who acquire AI-related skills will thrive, while those who resist will fall behind. Responsible use of AI, he argued, could enhance creativity, freedom, and the meaningfulness of work.

The necessity for dynamic workforce transformation through investment in retraining was highlighted as paramount to maintaining economic relevance in a rapidly changing environment. Lambrechts also addressed the global hurdles that impede the effective implementation of responsible AI, pointing out delays in public procurement processes, the need for business chambers to become centers of workforce information, and the risks connected to dependence on foreign platforms, which threaten national data sovereignty and workforce control.

Lambrechts called for urgent reforms to ensure that technological progress translates into real benefits for the workforce. Paul Guerra, the Executive Director of the Victoria Chamber of Commerce, praised Lambrechts’ vision, describing it as a critical roadmap for chambers aiming for resilience and future readiness.

A Roadmap for Responsible Innovation

Lambrechts outlined a detailed roadmap containing several key initiatives, including:
  • - Implementing quick concept verification cycles (30-90 days) through industry partnerships.
  • - Developing new revenue models for chambers to monetize workforce insights and skill forecasts, facilitating sustainable community-focused growth.
  • - Establishing dynamic government working groups for AI that can act with the speed of the private sector to align policies.

As global regulation of AI advances, particularly in the EU and South Korea, Lambrechts insisted that AI must remain ethical, inclusive, and empowering. "The future belongs to those who adapt and embrace these principles," he stated.
