Pal System Donates to Nature Conservation Through Soap Sales
On April 20, 2026, Pal System Federation, located in Shinjuku City, held a donation presentation ceremony at the Japan Nature Conservation Association (JNCA) headquarters in Chuo City. The ceremonial event was presided over by the council chairperson of the Pal System Environmental Committee, Yoshiko Nishinuchi, who presented a donation certificate to JNCA's Secretary-General Tomoko Shimura. This donation amounting to 769,474 yen was derived from a percentage of the annual sales of three original Pal System soaps.
Supporting Environmental Conservation through Soap Usage
The donation initiative is focused on three specific products: "Yappari Sekken! Laundry Powder Soap", "Konsen-kun's Soap", and "Earth-Friendly Hand Soap for Laundry". Under this program, 1% of the total annual usage amount is donated to foster environmental conservation efforts. This comes as a response to consumers' growing awareness of the ecological impact of conventional detergents, particularly on water ecosystems.
From April 2025 to March 2026, the three soap products amassed a total of 123,454 units in use, with a total sales figure exceeding 76 million yen, leading to a donation of 769,474 yen to JNCA. This financial support is aimed towards JNCA's project "Nature for All Children!", which encourages young children, including infants and elementary school students, to connect with nature while understanding the importance of conservation and community ties.
In the event, Secretary-General Shimura expressed her aspirations for the programming, stating, "This initiative will broaden children's horizons and possibilities. I hope they will appreciate the significance of the nature present in urban areas through their experiences." Director Miyoko Miyoshi emphasized the benefits of professional lectures, stating, "We can convey diverse ways of living to children through vibrant and engaging presentations."
Promoting Soap Living for Half a Century
Since the 1970s, Pal System has been promoting a lifestyle utilizing soap made from natural oils to its members. This initiative was ignited by concerns over the impact of chemically synthesized detergents made from petroleum products, which began to proliferate in the 1960s and negatively affected rivers, sea ecosystems, and human health. This history reflects a commitment to advocating for consumer awareness regarding the ecological effects of their product choices.
Consumers are urged to consider how their purchases impact ecosystems, thus fostering a more sustainable lifestyle that aligns with efforts in reducing plastic usage and energy consumption.
Protecting Water Environments
The Pal System Group is committed to creating opportunities that inspire actions towards a better future and aims to contribute to a sustainable society.
