K9s For Warriors Launches Operation: Reach Every Warrior to Celebrate 15 Years of Impact
In a commendable milestone, K9s For Warriors, the leading non-profit organization dedicated to aiding military Veterans by providing trained Service Dogs, proudly celebrates its 15th anniversary with the introduction of Operation: Reach Every Warrior. Launched on March 30, 2026, this initiative aims to expand access to support for Veterans grappling with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and military sexual trauma (MST). Having begun its journey in 2011 by pairing just eight service dogs with Veterans, K9s For Warriors has now paired over 1,200 Veterans with appropriate Service Dogs, rescuing more than 2,500 canines along the way.
The operation begins its mission in El Paso, Texas, known as the Veterans Capital of the USA. Here, K9s For Warriors will launch its pilot program by pairing four Veterans with service dogs in collaboration with Endeavors at their Health and Wellness Center. This pilot site enables the organization to assess logistics and partnership frameworks before extending the service to additional cities across the nation.
K9s For Warriors operates under the pressing mission to combat the alarming rate of Veteran suicides. As noted by CEO Daniel Bean, "Operation Reach Every Warrior signifies the next logical step in our commitment to provide much-needed support to Veterans." The initiative aims to strategically enhance access to Veterans in need without compromising the quality of resources provided. By establishing training classes in various regions of the country, K9s For Warriors seeks to alleviate travel obstacles that Veterans often face when attempting to receive support.
The expansion effort emphasizes a collaborative approach, working in tandem with community partners and local organizations to bolster service delivery across targeted regions. Operating under a philosophy of sustainable growth, K9s For Warriors stresses the importance of maintaining organizational integrity while ensuring that more Veterans receive vital assistance.
In its 15th year, K9s For Warriors also announced the third phase of construction on the Davis Family Mega Kennel in Ponte Vedra, Florida. This phase will introduce the Petersen Family Building, enhancing the facility's capacity to train and place dogs while also facilitating research initiatives. By consolidating operations within a dedicated space, the organization aspires to foster innovation and elevate program integrity, ultimately improving outcomes for both Veterans and dogs alike.
Throughout 2026, the anniversary celebrations will feature 11 commemorative events in various cities, highlighting the transformative stories of Veterans whose lives have been positively impacted. Each gathering will include inspiring testimonials and guest speakers who will share messages of hope and resilience.
As a champion for Veteran mental health, K9s For Warriors continues to advocate for policy advancements whilst showcasing the benefits of well-trained service dogs. The organization’s commitment remains unwavering, as they aim to save lives at both ends of the leash. With resources and programs bolstered by research from esteemed institutions like the University of Arizona, the organization places a spotlight on the relationship between service animals and their owners in fostering increased mental clarity, confidence, and community belonging for Veterans.
To embark on this journey of growth and compassion, K9s For Warriors invites the public to join in supporting veterans. More information about their programs can be found at k9sforwarriors.org.
