Coop Far East Expands Partnerships at the 137th Canton Fair 2025

The 137th Canton Fair: A Gateway to Innovation and New Partnerships

The 137th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair, recently concluded in Guangzhou, China, amidst great anticipation and excitement. This year, the fair not only broke new attendance records with an overwhelming number of international buyers, but it also provided a significant platform for organizations like Coop Far East to explore innovative products and forge long-term partnerships.

As part of its purchase delegation, Coop Far East, which is associated with Coop Italia – Italy’s largest retailer, sent a dedicated team of 15 buyers to scour the vast array of products showcased during the event. Over three phases, they assessed a diverse range of categories including small household appliances, stationery, DIY tools, textiles, footwear, and much more. According to Veronica Natalini, the General Manager of Coop Far East, the findings from this fair are crucial for finalizing their acquisition plans ahead of the Spring/Summer 2026 season, which they typically prepare for at least a year in advance.

One of the standout products identified this year was a line of multifunctional gardening power tools that utilize compatible batteries across a range of products. Veronica noted the substantial growth potential for such innovative products, emphasizing that they have officially included these tools in their procurement strategy.

The Canton Fair is often regarded as a unique gateway for businesses seeking to connect with a vast number of suppliers. As Veronica articulated, this access significantly enhances the efficiency of processes such as sample evaluation, price negotiation, and on-site production capability assessments. These elements accelerate decision-making while concurrently reducing travel expenses. Furthermore, it provides Coop a unique opportunity to scout new suppliers they may not have encountered otherwise and select products that meet their stringent standards for functionality, quality, and sustainability.

During this year’s fair, Coop Far East also noted significant trends that align with its strategic focus on durability, sustainability, and user experience. Particularly, there has been a marked increase in demand for multifunctional designs that conserve space in homes and personal care items. Additionally, there’s a growing inclination towards natural ingredients and eco-friendly claims, with products and packaging increasingly utilizing recycled materials.

The Canton Fair’s role as a bridge between East and West cannot be understated. It facilitates opportunities for global buyers and suppliers to collaborate, share creative ideas, and ultimately deliver better products to consumers. For Coop Far East, the fair transcends being merely a procurement event; it serves as a strategic platform to shape the future of retail with significant implications for the industry.

The next iteration, the 138th Canton Fair, is slated for October 15 to November 4, 2025, in Guangzhou. For further updates and information, visit their official site Canton Fair.
