Hitachi's Ambassador Role at AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan 2026 to Promote AI Agent Development

Hitachi Takes a Leading Role in AI Development at AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan 2026

In a significant milestone for the AI community in Japan, Hitachi has announced that Yoji Tabata, Chief OSS Consultant at Hitachi's Open Source Program Office (OSPO), has been appointed as the inaugural Ambassador for the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF). This appointment comes as the foundation aims to broaden its awareness and activation strategies for the adoption of AI agents globally. Among more than 1,000 global applicants, only two were chosen from Japan to represent the community at this prestigious role.

Tabata will deliver a keynote address during the first-ever AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan, taking place on September 10-11, 2026. His presentation will highlight the significance of participating in the Agentic AI development community and discuss how the integration of AI can accelerate business transformation.

Hitachi is not only a platinum sponsor of this event but will also showcase various technical solutions that leverage open-source software (OSS). One major focus will be on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a foundational element for secure communications and integrations among AI agents, as well as the architectural patterns for accessing and authorizing agent interactions. Hitachi's commitment to promoting secure applications of AI aligns with its vision of leading the transformation of businesses through innovative technology.

The AGNTCon + MCPCon Japan event will gather open-source technologists and users dedicated to leveraging AI in business innovation. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with experts and learn about best practices for implementing secure AI solutions. The event is expected to bridge gaps between developers and organizations, encouraging a shift from passive users to active contributors in the Agentic AI movement.

Hitachi's culture, which prioritizes safety and reliability, stems from its extensive history in mission-critical social infrastructure. The company has played a pivotal role in the OSS community, driving standardization initiatives and operational enhancements for businesses looking to adopt AI technologies. Furthermore, Hitachi's participation in the AAIF aligns with its broader global initiative to establish standards for access management and secure AI applications.

Tabata’s extensive background as a specialist in OSS domains, including authentication and authorization, has been recognized at an international level, leading to his selection as the AAIF Ambassador. It underscores the high esteem for his contributions and technical expertise in the community. Moving forward, he plans to conduct workshops and sessions aimed at educating developers and fostering a deeper understanding of safe AI usage through the AAIF initiative.

In addition to participating in the Japan events, Hitachi employees will be speaking at upcoming AGNTCon + MCPCon events in Europe (Amsterdam on September 17-18, 2026) and North America (San Jose on October 22-23, 2026). These engagements will further display Hitachi's commitment to addressing global standards in AI technology deployment and promoting community-driven development.

Through its ongoing work with the OSS community, Hitachi continues to gather insights and knowledge that can be applied to the next generation of solutions, such as its “HMAX by Hitachi,” designed to innovate social infrastructure using AI. This collaboration fosters interfaces that ensure security, reliability, and trustworthiness, ultimately enhancing society with advanced, sustainable solutions.
