The Kabutocho Art Week began in February 2020 with the opening of the micro-complex K5, heralding a new era for this distinctive district marked by its unique shops and establishments. It has since evolved into a platform showcasing diverse personalities, rich creativity, and unprecedented collaborations, setting it apart from typical art events. This year’s exhibition will continue this dynamic approach while celebrating the unique characteristics that make Nihonbashi Kabutocho a thriving cultural hub.

The theme for Kabutocho Art Week 2026 is “Cultural Waves”, and it aims to intertwine various cultural elements such as art, music, and gastronomy, fostering an environment of engagement and interaction. JOJI NAKAMURA, the main curator and a painter renowned for his dynamic brushstrokes, brings together a remarkable collection of artworks from 23 diverse artists, bridging differences in fame, nationality, and artistic style.

About the Curator


JOJI NAKAMURA (中村 穣二) is a celebrated painter born in Yokohama in 1974, known for his engaging and energetic painting style. With exhibitions held in Tokyo, Paris, the Netherlands, and Taiwan, Nakamura participates in various performances and showcases that challenge the boundaries of contemporary art. His recent solo exhibitions include “POPCORN” in Dallas and “Blue Light Yokohama” in New York, among others. As a prominent figure in the art community, he plays a significant role in introducing emerging talents within the contemporary scene.
