Emirates GBR Triumphs Again in the SailGP 2025 Season Impact League
In an impressive display of skill and commitment to positive environmental actions, the Emirates Great Britain SailGP team has clinched the title of the
2025 Season Impact League for the second consecutive year. This announcement comes after a thrilling season in which the team stood out not only for its sailing prowess but also for its dedication to sustainability and community engagement.
The
Impact League, a championship designed to celebrate and track the admirable actions of sailing teams both on and off the water, received a remarkable
48 projects submitted for evaluation this season, demonstrating a true commitment to environmental and social initiatives. With
20 judges and an extensive
114 hours of evaluation, the efforts put forth by the Emirates GBR team were deemed exemplary.
One of the key highlights of Emirates GBR's initiatives was the expansion of their youth development program, which helped propel young athlete
Kai Hockley into a full-time role within the team. Furthermore, the team is making strides in reducing waste through brand shifts and the repurposing of existing materials. In a bid to raise awareness about climate change, Emirates GBR has engaged 250,000 young minds in collaboration with
Goodwall, while also powering SailGP events with clean energy using portable solar installations from their partner
Low Carbon.
Sir Ben Ainslie, CEO and co-owner of Emirates GBR, expressed immense pride in the team’s achievements, stating, “Winning the Impact League for the second consecutive year fills me with great pride. We have expanded our partnership with the Greig City Academy in North London to attract more young people into the maritime industry, organized foil academies in Weymouth, and partnered with organizations like Goodwall and the
1851 Trust to provide STEM and climate education.”
The Brazilian team,
Mubadala Brazil, secured the second position, marked by the efforts of
Martine Grael, the first female pilot in the Rolex SailGP championship. With a focus on environmental restoration, the Brazilian team has made significant contributions, including efforts to restore
Pombeba Island in Guanabara Bay and raising climate adaptation awareness among local favela residents. Mubadala Brazil was also recognized with the
Breaking Boundaries award for establishing a leadership team comprising 50% women and for launching a foil clinic to advance female sailors in Brazil.
NorthStar Canada rounded out the top three, impressively showcasing their capabilities throughout the season, including being awarded for climate action through the planting of
2,000 eelgrass shoots in partnership with local sailors and scientists south of Halifax.

2025 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix, scheduled for
