Good Cycle Project: An Artistic Collaboration
In a unique initiative that combines the artistic talents of students with the sustainable vision of a leading construction company, Asanuma Corporation has partnered with Kyushu Sangyo University to launch an art project under the banner of the
Good Cycle Project. This collaboration focuses on promoting environmental awareness and health, aligning with the company's commitment to induce positive change in society.
The Essence of the Good Cycle Project
Launched in 2021, the
Good Cycle Project by Asanuma Corporation is rooted in the concept of fostering a cycle that benefits both humanity and the planet. During this collaboration, students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kyushu Sangyo University engaged in creating large-scale artworks that would be displayed on the hoardings of Asanuma's construction site in Chikushino City, Fukuoka Prefecture.
Under the supervision of Professor Huang, a total of 16 students, including recent graduates, produced these artworks utilizing three by six plywood panels. Many of the participating students were freshmen at the time of creation, marking their first experience with large-format painting. This initiative was not just an artistic endeavor but also a pertinent educational experience that facilitated exploration and learning about the interconnectedness of life and environmental stewardship.
Reflecting on the Experience
The students shared their transformative experiences regarding the project. Comments ranged from the profound realization of being a part of the cycle of life to gaining insights into themes that they previously had little understanding of. One student mentioned,
“I felt a strong awareness of being a part of the cycle of life.” Another noted how the project opened up avenues for research:
“It was a great learning experience that motivated me to investigate things I was previously unaware of.” They faced challenges in grappling with such concepts but ultimately found that this fresh perspective on art was rewarding.
Students expressed excitement about conveying messages through their art, reflecting the essence of this project. One participant noted,
“I find that expressing messages through artworks is the essence of painting, and I had a lot of fun.” Another shared their anticipation about their artwork being seen by the public, saying,
“I am thrilled that my work will be displayed where people can see it.” The hope for this project is that it will inspire viewers to become more conscious about issues of life cycles and coexistence.
Project Details and Timeline
The artworks are displayed on the hoarding at the Asanuma construction site, specifically at the location of renovations taking place at the Aeon Mall in Chikushino City, with the support of Aeon Company. This exhibition is scheduled to run from
July 1, 2025, to January 2026, featuring a total of
20 works.
