eX² Technology Launches Innovative Wireless Network for Agriculture in Yuma County
On November 12, 2025, eX² Technology, a subsidiary of Vivacity, celebrated the launch of a state-of-the-art wireless network tailored specifically for agricultural needs in Yuma County, Arizona. This event saw Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and local leaders commemorate the unveiling of the AgTech Wireless Tower Network, which aims to transform farming practices in a region known for its economic dependence on agriculture. Yuma County has approximately 190,000 acres of cultivated land and contributes to more than $3.2 billion in agricultural output each year, placing it among the top agricultural regions in the United States.
The dedicated wireless tower network spans over approximately 160,000 acres of irrigated farmland, ensuring that local farmers have access to reliable and scalable wireless services. These advanced communication technologies will support various smart farming tools including AI-powered machinery, IoT sensors, drones, geographic information system (GIS) mapping, automated irrigation systems, and autonomous farming vehicles.
Jonathan W. Lines, a Supervisor in Yuma County, highlighted the significance of this mesh network project, emphasizing how it symbolizes a connection not only to agricultural fields but also to the future of farming itself. Lines expressed his vision of Yuma County evolving into a “living laboratory of innovation” – where technology and agriculture blend seamlessly to preserve natural resources and enhance productivity. This initiative ensures that Yuma continues its legacy as North America's winter salad bowl for generations to come.
The funding for this monumental project comes from a $6 million grant provided by the State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), allocated to Yuma County through the Governor's Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting. At the commemoration event, Governor Hobbs took the opportunity to sign two important agricultural bills. One bill officially recognizes autonomous farm vehicles as essential tools in agriculture, while the other establishes a Broadband Service District Authority to oversee the newly developed ag-focused broadband infrastructure.
Governor Hobbs stated, “No where is the advancement of technology and agriculture more evident than here in Yuma.” She stressed the importance of the middle-mile project and the broadband towers that were funded through this initiative, which together form a high-capacity broadband backbone that will revolutionize farming. This infrastructure is expected to enhance real-time data collection, facilitate remote sensing, and support the operation of automated equipment, paving the way for the next generation of farming technologies.
Christopher Rabii, President and CEO of Vivacity Infrastructure Group, also praised the collaboration with Yuma County, stating, “We are honored to partner with Yuma County to build a dedicated network infrastructure that connects growers with the tools they need to lead the country in agricultural innovation.”
The groundbreaking ceremony took place as a part of the 2025 Yuma Desert Difference event, hosted by the University of Arizona's Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture. As we move forward, the AgTech Wireless Tower Network is expected to be fully operational by next year, representing a significant step forward in agricultural technology and connectivity for Yuma County's farming community.
In summary, eX² Technology's initiative not only aims to improve agricultural efficiency but also to ensure that the Yuma region remains a vital contributor to the U.S. agricultural landscape. The commitment to leveraging technology for environmental conservation and productivity will undoubtedly partake in shaping the future of farming in this flourishing region.
