Promoting Community Engagement Through the Card Game
The Youth Career Educational Institute (YCEI), headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, is spearheading a new initiative to promote understanding of the Hometown Resident Registration System, set to launch in 2026. This initiative aims to enhance community engagement between rural and urban areas, thereby driving regional revitalization. Under the leadership of Executive Director Shintaro Uno, the YCEI plans to use a card game as a fun and educational tool to facilitate this understanding.
Background of the Initiative
The Hometown Resident Registration System is designed to strengthen ties between urban dwellers and rural communities, thereby fostering regional development. Through their awareness campaigns, the YCEI is focused on ensuring that the public comprehensively grasps the implications and benefits of this initiative, encouraging active participation from citizens.
Introduction of the Card Game
In collaboration with the regional revitalization efforts of Rakuten Group, the YCEI is promoting a card game known as the
Hometown Resident Support Card Game. This engaging tool allows players to simulate the significance of Hometown Residents contributing to their communities, while also gaining insights into the mechanics of donations through the concept of hometown taxation. Aimed at participants aged 8 and above, the game is not only educational but also designed to be enjoyable, making learning about the program's structure both captivating and interactive.
Game Features and Launch
The
Hometown Resident Support Card Game will make its debut at the
Rakuten Super Hometown Tax Festival on September 14, 2025, at Tokyo Big Sight. The event will feature a live demonstration, providing the public with a first-hand experience of the game. YCEI members will actively participate, serving as facilitators and players, and encouraging attendees to engage with the concepts presented through the game.
Key Events on Launch Day
On the same day, Executive Director Shintaro Uno will also attend the
LG7 Summit at Tokyo Big Sight, where mayors from nine municipalities across the country will gather. The summit will focus on the creation of community ties, as seen through the marketing data provided by Rakuten Group to enhance the value of the Hometown Resident Registration System.
