Daito Kentaku and Kanagawa Prefecture Collaborate on Community Monitoring Initiatives

Daito Kentaku and Kanagawa Prefecture Unite for Community Support

On November 19, Daito Kentaku Inc., headquartered in Minato City, Tokyo, entered into a significant agreement with Kanagawa Prefecture focusing on community monitoring activities. This collaboration aims to prevent cases of solitary and isolated deaths among vulnerable households by connecting them with appropriate governmental support. This joint public-private initiative will see all 16 branches of Daito Kentaku operating within Kanagawa actively engaging in locally-oriented monitoring activities.

As Japan faces an increasing elderly population and a rise in single-person households, the issue of social isolation is becoming ever more pressing. Reports indicate a troubling upward trend in cases of solitary or lonely deaths among senior citizens and individuals facing disabilities or economic hardship. Such situations often require support that goes beyond mere community efforts, particularly when individuals resist reaching out to governmental bodies or their local community. This challenge emphasizes the need for collaboration between local municipalities and businesses that can engage directly with the community.

Daito Kentaku's employees frequently visit customers' homes for various business purposes, such as land utilization proposals. Under this new agreement, if any staff member notices signs of unusual circumstances—like undelivered mail or uncollected laundry—while conducting their business, they are instructed to promptly notify local authorities, including police and fire departments, to ensure the safety of the residents.

This partnership marks Daito Kentaku's first large-scale agreement of this nature covering an entire prefecture along with all its local branches. Previously, the company has formed similar agreements with several local municipalities; however, the current endeavor represents a noteworthy expansion of their commitment to community welfare.

Furthermore, Daito Kentaku is dedicated to continuing and enhancing its monitoring efforts, which fundamentally aim to create a safer environment where elderly individuals and their families can thrive in the neighborhoods they have always known. Such initiatives are crucial not only for maintaining community ties but also for reinforcing the welfare of all residents within these localities.
