Hengrui Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical company based in Shanghai, has announced remarkable financial results for the first three quarters of 2026. The results indicate a steady growth trajectory, reflecting the company’s strong market presence and commitment to innovation.

Financial Highlights

In the period from January to September 2026, Hengrui reported revenue of RMB 24.41 billion, a 5.26% increase compared to the same period last year. The breakdown of this revenue shows that product sales accounted for RMB 21.48 billion, marking a year-over-year growth of 2.52%. Most notably, the company achieved a net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 6.92 billion, which is an impressive increase of 20.38% year over year.

In terms of sales of innovative drugs, Hengrui reported revenues of RMB 13.87 billion, enjoying a 17.05% rise from the previous year. This segment now comprises approximately 64.59% of total drug sales. Particularly strong was the performance of non-oncology innovative drugs, which saw sales of RMB 4.01 billion, up 75.36% year-over-year, accounting for about 28.88% of total innovative drug sales.

Furthermore, for the third quarter of 2026 alone, revenues reached RMB 8.95 billion, reflecting a significant 20.55% increase from the previous year, and the net profit for this quarter surged to RMB 2.46 billion, representing an 88.92% increase compared to the same quarter in 2025.

Research and Development Advancements

A key aspect of Hengrui’s success lies in its robust research and development activities. In the third quarter, the company advanced its R&D pipeline by securing seven innovative drug or indication approvals. This included two Class 1 innovative drugs and five new indications for drugs already on the market.

Among the noteworthy developments are several New Drug Applications (NDAs) that have been accepted for review by the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE) of China's National Medical Products Administration. These applications cover a wide range of diseases, including oncology, metabolic disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological issues. In particular, advancements in the GLP-1 drug class mark a significant movement, with the NDA for HRS-7535, an oral small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist, and for ribupatide, a dual receptor agonist, both currently under review.

The company also reported obtaining 35 clinical trial approvals this quarter. Two of its products have even received Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the CDE, highlighting their potential to significantly improve patient outcomes in their respective fields.

Global Partnerships and Business Development

In addition to its internal growth, Hengrui Pharma has successfully expanded its global reach. Through out-licensing of innovative drugs, the company saw revenues of RMB 2.78 billion, reflecting a 31.12% increase year-over-year. Notably, partnerships with major pharmaceutical firms have driven substantial cash inflow, including US$600 million from Bristol Myers Squibb under collaboration agreements.

Recently, Hengrui entered into a license agreement with Novo Nordisk for the development of HRS-1596, a dual agonist with promising potential for treatment in type 2 diabetes patients. This agreement, valued at up to US$2.6 billion, is anticipated to bolster Hengrui’s already strong financial standing.

Academic Recognition

The company’s efforts in innovation have not gone unrecognized within the scientific community. Numerous studies related to Hengrui's innovative drugs were presented at prominent international conferences, with over 60 studies being showcased at the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress 2026. Research presented included critical Phase III studies of innovative antibody-drug conjugates, emphasizing the company's commitment to advancing cancer therapies.

Future Outlook

Hengrui Pharma’s momentum in innovative pharmaceuticals appears sustainable, as they have set forth aggressive plans to continue their dual growth strategy focusing on both oncology and chronic diseases. With a patient-centric approach guiding their development, Hengrui aims to deliver innovative medicines that enhance patients' lives globally as they move forward into the future.
