Swedish Orphan Biovitrum's Q3 2026 Report Shows Continued Growth Momentum

Sobi Q3 2026 Report: Underpinning Strong Growth Momentum

Swedish Orphan Biovitrum AB (publ), commonly referred to as Sobi®, has recently published its financial report for the third quarter of 2026, reflecting significant growth across its operations. The biopharma firm achieved a total revenue increase of 16% at constant exchange rates (CER) and 17% at actual rates, bringing total revenue to SEK 9,124 million (up from SEK 7,776 million in the same period last year). This impressive performance contributes to a year-to-date growth of 23% at CER, demonstrating the company's resilience and effective strategy in a competitive market.

Key Performance Highlights

The report showcased groundbreaking progress in different divisions within Sobi. The haematology segment notably surged, capturing a remarkable 29% increase at CER, amounting to revenue of SEK 6,171 million (up from SEK 4,771 million). This substantial growth can largely be attributed to robust sales of two flagship products: Altuvoct and Doptelet. Sales figures for these treatments reached SEK 1,729 million and SEK 1,829 million, respectively, indicating a rising demand for effective therapeutic solutions in this area.

Conversely, the immunology segment experienced a slight downturn, reporting a 6% decrease in revenue at CER for the quarter, totaling SEK 2,525 million. This decline was primarily influenced by lower receipts from Beyfortus royalties, which dropped from SEK 1,166 million to SEK 732 million. However, the segment found some relief through strong sales of other products, including Gamifant and Kineret, which recorded revenues of SEK 834 million and SEK 959 million, respectively.

Sobi's strategic portfolio also exhibited a favorable outcome, with revenue growing by 25% at CER to SEK 6,298 million, indicating a well-managed product lineup capable of navigating market variations successfully.

Profitability Metrics

In terms of profitability, the adjusted EBITA margin settled at 45%, a slight dip from the previous year’s 47%. The reported EBITA stood at SEK 3,990 million, corresponding to a 44% margin, a decrease from the prior 47%. The overall EBIT was reported at SEK 3,226 million, a substantial recovery from a loss of SEK 3,858 million in the same quarter last year.

Furthermore, earnings per share (EPS) were reported at SEK 6.76 before dilution, significantly improving from -8.40, and after dilution, the EPS came to SEK 6.69. Adjusted EPS figures reflect a better performance as well, standing at SEK 6.96 before dilution and SEK 6.89 after dilution.

The cash flow from operating activities remained stable, reaching SEK 1,871 million, slightly up from SEK 1,840 million year-over-year, which underscores Sobi's robust operational health.

Leadership Changes

On the management front, Sobi announced that CEO Guido Oelkers will step down by the end of January 2027. This transition comes at a time when Sobi is poised for further growth and innovation in the biopharmaceutical space.

Looking Ahead

In terms of outlook, Sobi anticipates revenue growth in the high-teens to low-20s percentage range at CER, a revision from previous expectations which were in the mid- to high-teens percentage growth. Additionally, the adjusted EBITA margin is expected to remain in the mid- to high-30s for 2026, suggesting a stable financial environment.
