Community Initiative to Support Local Students

As summer wanes and the new school year approaches, many students in Las Vegas find themselves unprepared due to a lack of essential school supplies. Identifying this pressing issue, Fetch-A-Tech Plumbing Heating & Air has launched the ‘Fill the Van’ campaign, aimed at providing much-needed support to local students. Running from July 7 to August 7, the campaign seeks to fill a service van with backpacks and school supplies for 100 children in need.

General Manager Manny Gonzales emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "No kid should sit down on the first day of school and feel unprepared."

How the Campaign Works

Fetch-A-Tech's campaign encourages community involvement in multiple ways:

• - Donations at the Office: Community members can drop off their contributions directly at the company’s office located at 5075 Diablo Drive.
• - Tech Pickup: For added convenience, donors can arrange for a technician to pick up their supplies during a scheduled service call.
• - Community Pop-Up Events: Fetch-A-Tech will host mobile donation events, titled ‘Fetch on the Move’, at various locations across Las Vegas.
• - Partner Donations: Collaborating with local partners like Smarty Paws Canine Coaching, donors can also drop off supplies at their locations.

Most-needed items include backpacks for all grades, notebooks, folders, pencils, colored pencils, glue sticks, scissors, rulers, and highlighters. Notably, financial contributions are also welcome, allowing the team to purchase supplies on behalf of donors.

Community Rewards for Giving Back

In a bid to encourage participation, Fetch-A-Tech is offering incentives for donors. Anyone who donates a backpack by August 7 will receive a free air conditioning tune-up—an invaluable service during the scorching Las Vegas summer. Furthermore, significant donations of $100 or more will entitle donors to a $250 discount on eligible repair services.

Gonzales reiterated, "Las Vegas summers are brutal, and so is back-to-school shopping for families already stretched thin. Every backpack and school supply that comes in gets us closer to that goal."

Following the Journey

The organization plans to share updates regarding the van's progress via social media, documenting its journey from emptiness to fullness. Weekly photos, videos, and live updates will keep the community informed as donations are collected. The ultimate goal is to deliver all the gathered supplies to Communities in Schools of Southern Nevada, ensuring they reach those students and families in need.
