FinFe$T 2025 in Newark, NJ
The Dfree Global Foundation has announced its sixth annual FinFe$T, a dynamic event celebrating financial literacy and physical wellness, set to take place on April 26, 2025, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Campus Center in Newark. With the theme "Wealth Protected by Health," the event aims to educate families and empower youth through a variety of workshops and health screenings.
A Commitment to Financial Literacy
Founded by Dr. DeForest B. Soaries Jr., the dfree® Financial Freedom Movement aims to illuminate the path toward financial autonomy, particularly within underserved communities. This year's FinFe$T promises an engaging lineup of speakers and activities designed to boost financial education in an interactive and entertaining manner.
Joining the event is Tiffany "The Budgetnista" Aliche, a renowned personal finance educator and NY Times bestselling author. Known for her vibrant personality, Aliche will speak on building a strong financial foundation during her session titled "How to Build a Solid Foundation in Shaky Times." Her discussion, powered by Momentum Risk Management and Bethany Baptist Church, is expected to inspire many attendees.
Health Partnerships
A pivotal feature of FinFe$T 2025 is its strong emphasis on health. In collaboration with RWJBarnabas Health, the event will provide over ten free health screenings, including dental, cardiovascular, and vision checks. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from notable experts in the healthcare field. Noteworthy presentations include discussions led by Dr. Omar Bey from Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, focusing on improving health in the Black community, and Dr. Thomas R. Ortiz from Clara Maass Medical Center, who will address the relationship between diabetes and Latino health.
Engaging Youth Programming
This year's event is particularly family-friendly, with tailored programming from grades K–12 designed to equip young attendees with essential financial skills. The Youth Stage will feature Adrianna Lee, aka "Little Miss Jersey," as the host, facilitating workshops designed for financial literacy and self-care. A particularly exciting aspect of the youth programming includes a keynote from teen entrepreneur Isiah Stewart, who will share invaluable money tips specific to young people.
Additionally, activities such as interactive financial literacy workshops and competitions promising games, giveaways, and prizes will be available throughout the day. Chelse Jackson from the North Jersey Chapter of Jack and Jill Inc. highlighted their partnership, emphasizing their commitment to empowering youth with the tools necessary to achieve financial success.
