Celebrating 20 Years: Bates Architects, LLC



In November 2025, Bates Architects, LLC (BA) proudly celebrated its 20-year anniversary since its founding in Frederick, Maryland. The firm, established in 2005, has transformed itself into a comprehensive architectural practice, serving diverse markets, including municipal, residential, commercial, and retail sectors across the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia).

On October 22, 2025, the firm marked this significant milestone with an event attended by notable figures, including members of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce and local officials, who gathered for celebratory proclamations followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting. After 19 years of dedicated service, Jennifer Litchfield, Partner and Vice President, announced her retirement, effective October 31, 2025. Marty Bates expressed gratitude for her contributions, stating, "Jen's resourcefulness and commitment to excellence played a pivotal role in our growth as a firm."

In light of these changes, BA is also excited to welcome Tifany Manion and Scott Greenberg to its team. Tifany joined as the Office Finance Administrator on October 1, 2025, bringing over a decade of experience from her previous role at Manion and Associates Architects. Her expertise in finance management will enhance the firm's administrative operations, ensuring efficiency in supporting BA's leadership.

Scott Greenberg, an Architectural Associate with more than 20 years of experience across a range of project types, including commercial and residential designs, joined the firm on November 4, 2025. With degrees from California's Art Center College of Design and Catholic University, Scott's diverse portfolio significantly complements BA's existing capabilities.

With 2025 marking a busy year—over 250,000 square feet of new construction projects are in various phases of design or completion—Bates Architects continues to demonstrate resilience and innovation.
