Midwest Design Awards 2026: Entry Period for Top Design Talents Now Open
The 6th Annual Midwest Design Awards is officially open for entries, marking a significant event in the Midwest design community. Running until July 31, 2026, this prestigious awards program, presented by Greenspring Media, celebrates outstanding work in architecture, interior design, and landscaping, among other fields. Creative professionals are encouraged to submit their projects across 73 categories that encompass both residential and commercial designs, showcasing the diverse talent in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
This year’s awards aim to highlight the impressive skills and innovation within the design-build industry, reinforcing the Midwest's reputation as a hotbed for creative excellence. Danielle Fields, editor of Midwest Design magazine, noted that the awards have become a benchmark for design quality not only regionally but also on a national level.
Participating entrants can expect their projects to be judged by a distinguished panel of independent experts from various fields within the design industry. They will be evaluating submissions with particular attention to creativity, craftsmanship, and innovation. A spectrum of honors will be awarded, including first, second, and third place in each category, alongside the highly sought-after Best in Show award, which is revealed at the gala event.
The entry process is designed to accommodate wide participation. Professionals can submit as many projects as they wish, with a tiered fee structure based on the number of submissions: $100 for 1-3 entries, $75 for 4-6, and $50 for 7 or more entries. Additionally, half of each entry fee will be granted back to participants as advertising credit toward the upcoming commemorative issue of Midwest Design, intended for Spring 2027.
Eligible projects need to have been completed within the last five years. As noted earlier, while most designs must be based in the designated states, vacation homes can be submitted from any location, thus offering wider opportunities for recognition.
The timeline for the awards is packed with exciting milestones. Following the opening of entries on May 14, 2026, the final cutoff for submissions occurs at 11:59 PM on July 31, 2026. After that, finalists will be announced in September, and tickets for the gala will go on sale. Networking events will take place in October, culminating in the glamorous Midwest Design Awards Gala on December 10, 2026, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Bloomington.
The commitment to fairness and quality is demonstrated by the panel of judges, whose identities remain confidential until the awards gala. This approach ensures a high level of integrity in the judging process, which covers various disciplines including architecture, interior design, and product design.
For designers eager to seize this opportunity, all relevant details regarding eligibility and submission guidelines are available on the official awards website at MidwestDesignAwards.com. With the Midwest Design Awards gaining momentum each year, this platform serves as a significant launchpad for regional talent seeking national visibility in the industry.
In closing, the Midwest Design Awards not only aims to celebrate tradition and craftsmanship within the design community but also seeks to inspire a new generation of creatives who are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the design world. As entries roll in, anticipation builds around who will take home the coveted awards and set the standard for excellence in the years to come.
