Exploring the Gap Between Academic Knowledge and HR Practices
The HR Library, operated by Trustyyle Corporation based in Chuo City, Tokyo, is set to hold an engaging event titled "Is HR Knowledge Being Used in HR?" on May 27, 2025, from 19:00 to 21:00.
This event is perfect for those looking to effectively leverage HR insights for organizational development and personnel training, especially for individuals who may feel apprehensive about engaging with HR studies or wish to convey knowledge related to HR to junior staff or team members.
In the HR landscape, many professionals strive to apply theoretical learning obtained from books and courses to their real-world practices. However, a common sentiment exists: while many individuals believe they understand research findings and data, they often feel uncertain about how to implement this knowledge practically. This raises a critical question: How extensively is scientific knowledge applied in HR operations?
To facilitate this discussion, we welcome Keigo Iwamoto, a researcher from ZENKIGEN, who specializes in industrial and organizational psychology and mindset research. He will share insights from his recent papers, including
“How Well Do HR Professionals Know and Utilize Concepts Related to HR Management?” and
“Are Amateur Theories of HR Professionals Consistent with Scientific Evidence?” published in Organizational Science in December 2024. Together with Iwamoto, we will explore the gap between science and HR practice providing hints on connecting theory to practical application.
