Tokyo's Initiative to Enhance Adolescent Mental Health
In a notable effort to address the mental health challenges faced by adolescents, Tokyo is set to launch a new digital program known as the
Adolescent Mental Health Enhancement Program. This initiative is being developed in collaboration with
Kyoto University and the
Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science. Recognizing the increasing need for mental health support among high school students, the program aims to not only enhance their well-being but also to prevent the decline in mental health that can occur during adolescence.
Call for High School Monitors
To ensure that the program effectively meets the needs of its target audience, Tokyo is actively seeking high school student monitors. These student participants will play a crucial role in providing user-centered feedback on the program's design, functionality, and related promotional content. Their insights will be instrumental in shaping the program to be as beneficial as possible.
Program Activities
1. Workshops
The monitoring program will include a series of workshops aimed at fostering dialogue among participants. During these sessions, students will engage in group work and discussions, offering their opinions and creative ideas regarding the program's features. The workshops are scheduled to take place from
June to December 2028, approximately four times, on weekends and during the summer break. Attendance will be in person around the Tokyo metropolitan area.
2. User Testing
Following the workshops, selected monitors will have the opportunity to use the program as part of user testing. This phase is expected to occur from
December 2028 to February 2029, where participants will provide feedback on their usage experience and suggest areas for improvement. Each testing session will be designed to last around five minutes and will be conducted from home, ensuring convenience for all involved.
