The 3rd FES Contest Regional Awards: A Triumph of Financial Education
The Japan Financial Education Support Organization has officially announced the winners of the 3rd FES Contest regional awards, where middle and high school students showcased their creativity by producing one-minute vertical videos aimed at educating elementary school students about financial literacy.
This year, the competition expanded to 10 prefectures, including Aichi, Osaka, Gunma, Shizuoka, Toyama, Hyogo, Fukuoka, and Yamanashi, in addition to last year's participating regions of Chiba and Kagawa. With a total of 897 submissions, this year's contest significantly surpassed the previous year's 503 entries, indicating a growing interest in financial education events in local communities.
Rising Quality and Ambitious Participation
Among the 897 submissions, 765 entries were made to the regional competitions. This shows an increasing public engagement in promoting financial education across Japan. The variety of videos ranged from demonstrating advanced financial knowledge to teaching elementary students about money management, exemplifying the creativity and innovation of the participants. As the number of submissions increases, so does the quality of the entries, reflecting a higher standard of work each year.
The award winners will prepare presentations that incorporate their learning methods, aspirations behind their videos, and the creative processes they employed during production. Top winners will have the opportunity to progress to the national finals, while other notable works will undergo preliminary evaluations before making their way to the national awards for a chance at recognition.
Innovative Judging in Yamanashi Prefecture
Among the regional competitions, Yamanashi is implementing a new judging system. Unlike other regions where winners are determined beforehand, Yamanashi's awards will be influenced by the presentation delivered on the day of the event. This move not only evaluates the quality of the videos made but also encourages students to develop logical communication skills and expressiveness, deepening their learning experience.
Additionally, Yamanashi is establishing a financial education support system for the entire region. As part of this initiative, local financial institutions have created the “Financial Institution Alliance Award.” Furthermore, the
