American National Standards Institute Announces New Board Leadership for 2026
On December 11, 2025, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) officially announced the details of its newly appointed Board of Directors for the term that will commence on January 1, 2026. This decision marks a pivotal moment for ANSI as it continues to shape the standards of various industries across the United States and globally.
Christian Dubay, who is affiliated with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), will continue his service as Chair of the ANSI Board, having been reappointed for a second term. His leadership is expected to guide the board through an array of significant activities while fostering collaboration among its members. Supporting him will be three Vice Chairs: Ajit Jillavenkatesa from Apple, Ed Mikoski from the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA), and Cynthia Woodley representing Professional Testing. Additionally, David Miller from the American Petroleum Institute (API) retains his role as Immediate Past Chair, contributing his experience to the board.
The ANSI Board is set to include a fresh roster of Directors-at-Large who will serve terms running through the end of 2028. Notable appointees include John Belcik from the International Code Council (ICC), Jacqueline Campbell from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Jessica Evans from NSF, and Dr. Barbara J. Jones from the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI). These individuals have been selected for their expertise and commitment to enhancing the standards development community.
Moreover, the Board's Nominating Committee has filled several Director-at-Large vacancies with experienced professionals like Heather Evans from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Marie Jordan from Visa, Laura Lindsay from Microsoft, and Daniel Vreeman from Health Level Seven (HL7). Their appointments reflect ANSI's dedication to incorporating diverse insights and expertise within its leadership structure.
In addition, ANSI Member Forums will see new Chairs appointed. Tim Koczanski will lead the U.S. Department of Defense Government Member Forum, while Peter L. Pondillo will head the Company Member Forum at Corning Incorporated. Meanwhile, Mary Ellen Fise is poised to represent the Consumer Interest Forum, and Megan Hayes will chair the Organizational Member Forum at NEMA.
The Policy Advisory Groups within ANSI will also have new leadership, with Pete Tolsdorf from the U.S. Green Building Council overseeing the Intellectual Property Rights Advisory Group. Ajit Jillavenkatesa from Apple will chair the International Policy Group, and Jeff Grove from ASTM International will lead the National Policy Advisory Group. Amanda Benedict from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) has been selected to chair the ANSI ISO Council, ensuring that ANSI's standards align with global conversations. Other significant roles will be held by Susan Carioti from ASIS, chairing the ANSI Appeals Board, and Kerri Haresign from the Consumer Technology Association, chairing the Executive Standards Council. Veronica A. Lancaster will take over as USNC President and chair of the USNC Council, while Paula Watkins from the American Petroleum Institute is to lead the ANSI's Board of Standards Review.
