Heralbony Teams Up with Tokyu Railway
Heralbony, a creative company based in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with Tokyu Railway. Under the corporate slogan "For People, For Towns, For the Future," this new initiative marks the launch of an art-wrapped train, designed by the company's contracted artist, Toshiya Nakajima. The train, aptly named "A Special Train Painting Color for People, Towns, and the Future," is set to operate starting November 4, 2025, on the Toyoko Line, followed by the Den-en-toshi Line on November 25, 2025.
Background of the Collaboration
The motivation behind this project lies in the shared vision of both Heralbony and Tokyu Railway. With its mission of "Unleash Diversity," Heralbony aims to transform perceptions of disabilities and create a new cultural narrative rooted in welfare. Meanwhile, Tokyu Railway is dedicated to promoting happiness and prosperity in urban areas while dreaming of a bright future. Together, these two organizations aspire to create a vibrant and inclusive society where everyone can shine.
Through this partnership, Heralbony seeks to implement an inclusive value by bringing art, a symbol of diversity, into public spaces that everyone can access. By collaborating with Tokyu Railway, the goal is to generate experiential value at the intersection between communities and urban life. The project aims to provide a time of "feeling" through the art-wrapped trains and visual displays that will be available to commuters and rail enthusiasts alike.
About the Artist
Toshiya Nakajima, a resident of Sendai City, was born in 1983 and joined the Tamutamu workshop in 2011. Initially, he started creating delicate illustrations using a pen on everyday objects, turning them into whimsical "robots." Over time, his work evolved to focus more on illustrations and portraits inspired by photographs, although he jokingly admits that on off days he might end up just chatting.
Artist's Works
For this project, Nakajima was commissioned to create original artwork reflecting the charm of towns along the Tokyu Line. He took to the rails, experiencing the local streets and the people within them to craft his pieces in a unique style. A total of 14 artworks, collectively titled "Scenery with Tokyu Railway," will be featured in the initiative.
