Manar Abu Dhabi 2025 Set to Illuminate the Emirate This November

Manar Abu Dhabi 2025: Illuminating the Emirates

The Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi has revealed exciting details about the upcoming second edition of Manar Abu Dhabi, a public light art exhibition curated under the artistic direction of Khai Hori. This remarkable event will take place from November 15, 2025, to January 4, 2026, aiming to enhance the cultural fabric of the emirate through stunning visual displays centered around the theme of 'The Compass of Light'.

A New Dimension to the Exhibition

Following the success of its inaugural edition, Manar Abu Dhabi is set to return with 19 extraordinary light installations featuring works created by both Emirati and international artists. This year, the exhibition expands its reach beyond the city of Abu Dhabi, marking the inclusion of the Al Ain region for the first time. The installations will highlight Al Ain's rich cultural heritage and natural landscapes, providing a new dimension to the exhibition.

Featured Locations

The centerpiece of the exhibition will be the Jubail Island, a stunning backdrop where many installations will be prominently displayed. Visitors can start enjoying the engaging art pieces in Al Ain from November 1, 2025, coinciding with the Traditional Craft Festival. This integration not only emphasizes the local culture but also allows these artworks to resonate with the unique terrain and heritage of the oasis city.

Artistic Inspiration

Khai Hori, an accomplished curator with previous roles including Artistic Programming Associate Director at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, leads this year’s initiative. He is supported by a team of co-curators including Alia Zaal Lootah, Munira Al Sayegh, and Mariam Alshehhi. The theme of 'The Compass of Light' draws inspiration from the deep-rooted relationship between the Gulf and light, symbolizing guidance and communication throughout history. This approach invites visitors to engage with contemporary art while reflecting on its interaction with nature.

Community Engagement

The event will feature an engaging public program filled with talks, workshops, and performances designed to enrich visitor experiences. These activities will encourage participation and foster a deeper understanding of the artworks and their significance. Through this approach, Manar Abu Dhabi hopes to be a catalyst for culture and creativity in the region, enhancing Abu Dhabi's reputation as a vibrant cultural hub.

Commitment to Public Art

Manar Abu Dhabi aligns seamlessly with the Public Art Abu Dhabi initiative, reaffirming the Department of Culture and Tourism’s commitment to transforming urban spaces through artistic expressions. It showcases Abu Dhabi's natural beauty and artistry, creating an immersive environment for residents and visitors alike.

This event not only celebrates the act of creation but also strengthens the connections between art, community, and the outer world.
