The highly anticipated DCP Award opens submissions today, allowing previous entries from the renowned Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFF & ASIA) to re-enter the spotlight. Supported by the Digital Currency Network, DCJPY, this initiative aims to acknowledge and celebrate the creativity that may have been overlooked in the past. This year’s award focuses on Japanese films that were submitted to SSFF & ASIA in previous years but did not gain recognition during their initial run.

What is the DCP Award?

The DCP Award utilizes a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) model, enabling participants to democratically choose the winners. This year is unique as it invites creators to vote on each other’s submissions. The award seeks to bring attention back to creations that might have been ahead of their time or regrettably missed selection. Whether from the early 2000s or more recent works, all entries with a history of submission to SSFF & ASIA are welcome, regardless of their prior nominations or awards.

DCP aims to create a community based on blockchain technology, promoting smoother connections among businesses, regions, and individuals. In collaboration with Visual Voice, DCP is enhancing the network across creators while allowing fans to participate in selecting and managing the awards. Awards and Opportunities

The winner will receive 500,000 yen in prize money and be recognized as an official creative partner of DCP. This role entails leading promotional video production for the tokenized deposit service, DCJPY, over the following year. Creators will also benefit from a democratic voting experience by watching and voting on fellow submissions and opportunities for networking through the Discord community.

SSFF & ASIA has worked tirelessly for over 25 years to elevate the status of visual creators and their works, aiming to make democratic activities more accessible, especially through connections fostered by Web3 technology and wallets.

Important Deadlines

• - March 30: DAO participant recruitment begins and entries open on LIFE LOG BOX.
• - April 23: Detailed information for the film festival will be released, alongside DAO service entry availability.
• - April 30: Entry submission deadline.
• - May 7: Voting commences.
• - May 17: Voting concludes and results are confirmed.
• - May 25: Award ceremony and prize distribution during the SSFF & ASIA 2026.

Submission Guidelines

Eligible works include any Japanese films previously submitted to SSFF & ASIA, including those submitted to the American Short Shorts. The films must be 25 minutes or less, inclusive of credits, with a registration fee of 5,000 yen (tax included). Registering with the LIFE LOG BOX platform is also required for submission.
