Fancl and Saboten Unveil New Veggie-First Drinks for Healthy Living

Fancl x Saboten: A New Twist on Veggie-First Drinks

In an innovative collaboration, Fancl and Saboten are offering a unique collection of drinks that celebrate the benefits of vegetables. From October 1 to October 31, select restaurants across Japan will feature beverages made with 100% domestically grown kale, known for its high nutritional value. This release comes on the heels of popular consumer demand for healthy options, providing the perfect blend of taste and nutrition that caters to health-conscious customers.

A Legacy of Healthy Eating

Since opening in 1966, Tonkatsu Shinjuku Saboten has built a reputation for promoting healthy eating habits. The restaurant chain is renowned for its “eating method proposal,” encouraging customers to consume fresh, crunchy cabbage first to minimize oil absorption during meals. This season, they are pushing the health agenda further, offering drinks that include the daily recommended amount of yellow and green vegetables—specifically, 120g of fresh kale leaves—through their partnership with Fancl.

Among the beverage lineup are draught beer, apple juice, orange juice, and notably, the recommended “Kale Lemon Squash.” The latter is a refreshing soda blended with lemon to create an original flavor that pairs delightfully with their signature “katsu” dishes.

Nutritional Excellence with Kale

Reimi Tanaka, a registered dietitian and the head of menu development at Saboten, emphasizes the nutritional superiority of kale, which is often referred to as the king of vegetables. Kale stands out among other vegetables for its richness in vitamins, minerals, and carotenoids. By combining this powerhouse vegetable with the classic katsu, audiences can enjoy a flavorful beverage that also boosts their nutrient intake. The drinks are ideal not only as part of a meal but also make for an excellent first drink.

The Special Offerings

  • - Alcoholic Drink: Kale Green Draft Beer priced at 825 yen (tax included).
  • - Soft Drinks: Includes Kale Green Apple Juice, Kale Green Orange Juice, and Kale Lemon Squash, priced at 550 yen each (495 yen when ordered with a meal).

These beverages will be available for a limited time until October 31, 2025, and stock is limited, so fans are encouraged to visit early to enjoy these delicious options.

About Fancl’s Kale Juice

Fancl is committed to using only high-quality domestically sourced kale, cultivated by contracted farmers, ensuring that every sip is packed with vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. The kale juice features a proprietary “fresh concentration method,” whereby fresh kale is quickly frozen to retain its flavor and nutritional benefits, encapsulating the equivalent of 120g of kale leaves in each serving. This commitment to quality makes Fancl’s kale juice an excellent complement to the meals offered at Saboten.
